    Acolyte Grenstxaripotx

I don't even want to try and pronounce that name.

Two clicks and a growl :D

Not what I was guessing at all.  I had it as Gren- Sticks- 'Arry Potter, only replace the "er" at the end with X.

A thought occurred to me, Thulia's (full) dragon form will get her (and later Morgana) drafted into Flight 1, if Thulia is on the tech track, the training aircraft, and any flight rigs, might give her ideas.

Also considering her hunting bow has a 15t draw weight, her MID being based on Human baseline might have interesting ratings there.

Yes, Thulia will definately be put into Flight 1 - not for the flying, she's been flying since she was young - but for the things like the need to use and understand human equipment thats associated with it. Morgana isn't able to manifest her wings yet, but when she finally does she'll end up there too. Except she has to start from scratch...

Yep, Whately is very adamant on that, doesn't matter how good you are at flying, unless you have a pilot's license, if you can fly you take the course. It isn't just about learning to fly, though for some that's a big part of it, it's about anyone or anything else that's in the sky with you and working with the people who keep the skies safe.. Actually, there's a potential problem, does her translation spell work through normal radio equipment? I don't think many ATC officers can speak dragon.

It's interesting to see the magical version of a gadgeteer, rather than the usual human-technology version. :D

From the descriptions in the previous stories, Thulia's using the inherent properties of the materials she's making her tech from, so from a Plane-Of-Fire perspective, it's advanced technology, and not just brute-force magic... :D

Though as we saw from the first part of the story, she can do brute-force reasonably well. :D

Looking forward to see how the story unrolls. :D
For high magic planes, magic and technology are likely inherently intertwined, from their perspective, it'd only be places like Earth where magic and the ability to use it aren't common that they'd be considered two separate things. It'd be like if you had a gadgeteer who learned to use magic like baselines, except with Thulia being a dragon, her magic baseline is equivalent to at least a mid-level wiz trait, and she's accustomed to using magic in her day to day. To us, a circuit diagram just has resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors and such, for Thulia, that diagram could also include various spells.

The relationship between magic and tech is a bit different on a higher magic plane, because the definition of tech is rather different. The relationship between magic and Earth tech hasn't changed - you may remember Thulia pointing out there are big issues making them talk to each other. It's just that they consider some things to be tech we consider magic.

Yeah, I know this doesn't really clear the issue up much! :D

Her translation spell is fairly limited; its why she will be put into an English class. The ring will help her a lot, but it doesnt help with all the stuff a straight translation doesn't give you. At least its better than Google Translate :P

I suspect the key factor is repeatability of tech. They may consider things like runes and spell circles technology, because anyone can activate them, and they'll do the same thing every time. Making them talk to each other, requires encoding information into a format that can be understood by both

Not far off; basically since pretty much all the inhabitants can use magic, they think of it as we do tech.
Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from tech :P

Inverse Clarke's Third then, I've heard that explanation to describe technomancy

yeah no straight translation aid will help you with puns, slang, homonyms or acronyms.

So we have English, flight, magic and workshop class + lab, powers theory and lab, BMA and/or "brick class" and potentially Team Tactics...

Remember, they can't be punished for actions off campus unless they are breaking rules like Whateley secrecy. They will get a good talking to, and the Martial Arts interrogation will be brutal (they were pretty lucky in their abilities vs their opponents). And they didn't get involved until the police and civilians were in danger, which helps.

A thought, powers that be are interested in cross planar relations between at least Earth and Fire Plane, someone with a technical aptitude and familiarity with the technologies of both realms, could stand to make a lot of money if they develop an effective means of interfacing the two. We can infer by their use of the word "bit" that Fire Plane computers use binary, though really so long as it isn't high granularity analog, conversion would be workable. Hardware side, they need to be able to send a number on one end and have it be read as the same number on the other. The software side is those numbers and groups of numbers have to be able to be interpreted the same way.

Well, they must already have some way of interfacing the 'tech' of the two planes, because Thulia arranged herself Internet access. Of course, this was provided by cats...

yes but for all we know that could be a mimeograph type interface, UI to UI, not direct interaction
