Off-site Whateley fanfics / Whateley

Ever since this site (well, its predecessor) added a WhatIF section (for Whateley Fanfics), its been a LOT easier to find those fanfics. Those of you who have been around for a few years will remember the days when all the fanfics were just posted to the forums- and when they were lost during the forum crash.

But not all Whateley fanfics are posted here, on this site. Some were never posted here- sadly. And so, this thread is for linking Whateley Academy fanfics from othersites, ones people may not know about but might like to read.

If there were, I never saw them. Which, admittedly, is not the same as 'they don't exist'.


And Danzila- thanks for pointing that out. (Also, man is that irritating.)

Hmmm. . . would you be willing to run the risk of posting excerpts from story drafts which were supposed to become canon but were never finished for one reason or another? They may be rough, but in some cases they are the only original source for some Whateley info, and they were posted to the old FUDforum site.

To my recollection, there are:
- a Fey draft snippet which gives some info about how magic works;
- a Heyoka draft snippet which is the first know appearance of the "Run Away Very Fast" class;
- a few snippets from the first Feral story ("Wild Times") which ended up being the only thing Liliandra posted about the New Olympians before she disappeared.

I have archived copies of all three, if you need them.

Another option, of course, would be to reach out to the authors of any of these stories and encourage them to cross post here. I don't generally go looking for WhatIF stories and I don't have the time to keep up with a lot of other fiction sites these days, so some of this stuff is new to me. And I have no info on those authors. But if they are willing to cross post here, the only content rights I ask for is the ability to maintain the story (and to maintain the 'professional appearance' of the site). That may mean adding/removing some format data.

Most of those writers have disappeared from the internet. I remember one of them, Grey Bean, writer of 'Catnip', basically disappeared forever after the forum crash- I think he made an account, never posted, never replied to PMs.

Honestly, all I was thinking of doing was finding some free upload site (like Dropbox, only not specifically Dropbox because I use that for other things) that I could upload them all to, and just drop a link here. I was just wondering if anyone knew a good one to upload 700 files to for public downloading.

OK, so I have just uploaded the archives from the whateley fanfic forums from 2013 (before the crash) and 2015 (before the other crash) to a filesharing site for anyone to look at.

Unfortunatly, because of the rule against posting links unless you have 10+ posts, I can't share it here.

So, what I'm gonna do is post some recommendations of my favorite fics here, until I reach the minimum post count necessary for links to show. Each one will be a separate post. Admittedly, this may be against the spirit of the rules, but in this case I think(hope) the mods will allow it.

Whateley Fanfic Recomendation: Catnip, by Grey Bean (2015 archive)
Catnip is a story about a young (probably not a mutant at the time) young man who was kidnapped by a mad scientist with a comic book fetish, who transformed him into a Catwoman expy.

Catnip is a well-written fic with some great characters, and clocks in at over 160,000 words.

Whateley Fanfic Recomendation: Daniel Archwood, by Glimmervoid (2015 archive)
The Daniel Archwood series has two parts so far, and the author seemed intent on writing more- with that said, he hasn't posted since 2015.
It's the story of a low powered mage at whateley who attempts to build a Magical Power Armor- and things go wrong.
The two chapters combined clock in at over 160,000 words.

Whateley Fanfic Recomendation: Outsider. (author unknown) (2013 archive)
Outsider is a story about a reclusive Gadgeteer-7. Well written, if a somewhat overpowered MC.
Story clocks in at 50,000 words or so.

Whateley Fanfic Recomendation: Yu Yu Hakusho, Whateley Style, by Lynceus. (2013 archive)
Starts off by crossing over with Ranma 1/2, then later on with Yu Yu Hakusho. Comedy fic, featuring Ayla as a spirit detective (and also a 10 year old girl); Chaka learning martial arts from Ranma, and Ryoga getting lost.

The Shenlong saga, by The Old Poet. (2013 archive).
Essentially the story of a student with GSD who likes to fly. More slice-of-life than action.
A 6 story long saga, with plenty to read.

Underdog's Tale, and it's sequel, 'dog Days. By Letomo. (2013 archive)
A surprisingly interesting story about a very weak mutant who plays a lot of GEO.

Cletus the Redneck Devisor, by Caliban (2013 archive)
Silly little two-shot story, but fun to read.
