Just a Happy Christmas Story: Part 1 comments
Jane seeing Dr. Markham, she is in rough shape and afraid her friends might be targeted to get at her. Smile, Aella, Cooper, and Shaun, afraid for their safety, thinking it might be better to leave Whateley and disappear for their safety, nooo!Doyle
Mid-Morning
Friday, December 14th, 2007
Jane, please open up to Dr. Markham, so many people care about you now, don't just throw that away. Dang, the last person she trusted as Mille and doesn't want to betray that trust even now. A drawing of Katherine when she was 24, oh boy.
Great, they are gathering intel on Just Me aka Jane. These kids need to be taught not to snoop into everyone's business no matter what they are training to be in the future. They had Reach watching her and saw what happened with her friends at breakfast including Jane crying in Smile's arms.Spy Kids Headquarters
Late Afternoon
I hope Imp gives them a chewing out they will never forget over this, leave Jane alone! They know or at least suspect all that about Shaun over the incident with Matthew Fusco, not good. And suspect Jane of the Fusco massacre, making a lot of assumptions on limited intel here, kids, that would get you in trouble as real police detectives or spies.“She's lying low?” A-Plus asked the group.
“Maybe. She clearly didn't want to show off her fighting skills yesterday until she absolutely had to,” Kew said.
I thought better of you, Reach. More assumptions without evidence. And assuming the match against Counterpoint was on-purpose to get her to kill him, now you are grasping at straws that aren't even there. This group ticks me off, making all these assumptions about what Whateley does, that they would use a student in this way, and about Jane without any evidence and only their own conjecture based on limited facts and hearsay.“If she did kill them, Whateley knew about it. They probably sent her to do it,” Reach said.
The Good Ol' Boyz, Ferret trying to keep calm while Fantastico brags how he will do so well in the upperclassmen combat finals, I hope he gets curbstomped. Ferret worried because he is on the list of suspect for who hacked the combat finals and set Just Me up against Counterpoint, and he did it to. I hope he gets caught soon. Someone asks you to do this in exchange for a high-paying job when he graduates, he should realize if it sounds too good to be true don't take the schmuck bait.Crystal Hall
Suppertime
Security is here for Ferret, come t Hartford willingly or be dragged in, please do the latter, you coward. Hartford and Everheart waiting for him at Kane, not going to be able to hide your guilt so easily from both of them. Hartford is playing hardball, give up who asked him to do this or once evidence is found be charged with attempted murder. Ferret, you fear whoever got Arnold to set things up more than Hartford, you are a fool.
A lot of porn, eww. Oh, great, I hope Hartford's power can see past Ferret's setup to the truth, otherwise he might just get away with this. Ack! Not hentai, I would give him detention for using a school computer to download that stuff in the first place. Please let him not have been as cautious as he hoped.“HEY! Don't you need a warrant for that?”
Hartford scowled at him. “No. We're you Parentis in Loco, and you're using school property, it's reasonable for us to look over your computers to make sure you aren't doing anything you shouldn't. Now let's go see your things, unless you want us to charge you right now and throw you in a cell with Counterpoint.”
Shaun in his dormroom alone, Cooper out on a date with Smile. Smile needs this date. Shaun knows about the Spy Kids following Jane around, his mother's games sure make him very aware of his surroundings. Jane is a confusing mix for her friends, not liking violence, but more than capable of unleashing a brutal amount when needed.Emerson Cottage
That night
Oof, calls his mom and she saw the match between Just Me and Counterpoint, worse when seen upclose.
I like her, I wonder what name she goes by now. Aunt Magali coming with her kids, Uncle Pierre might not be able to make it, I hope none them knew Mille enough to recognize any of his traits in Jane.“That I wouldn't want her to come? Has she ever hurt you or your friends?” his mom asked.
“No.”
“Then I want her to come. It sounds like she needs a fun Christmas. I know it can be hard for foster kids who don't have a family, and having this happen so close to the holiday, it would be cruel to leave her alone at the school,” she said in a tone that made it clear she considered the issue settled.
A gadgeteer with a focus on mining, now that is a great specialize to have, no wonder Shaun wants to see his Uncle Pierre so much. Just needs someone to care for her, Jane definitely needs that and a whole lot more. Shaun's trick with the gas bombs was a good one, his sleight of hand is more useful than most people will realize.
Jane goes to get a shower and tries to ignore Geist who is spying on her, that girl needs to quit the Spy Kids before someone with more of a temper about being spied on catches her in the act. Oh god, Jane on the edge she is so close to combat mode, no one better sneak up right behind her. *eyes bug out* She is in that much pain that the old MIlle is coming out with those kind of thoughts of what to do to Geist to get her to back off, Jane is terrifying right now if you can read her thoughts.Dickinson
Going home for Christmas with Shaun only to sneak away after New Year, Jane, you won't be protecting your friends by doing this, only hurting them. Jane, planning all this out, the fact you are crying about abandoning your life for a 3rd time proves you need to talk to your friends and the staff at Whateley to come up with a better solution.
*blinks* Is Friday the 14th or is Saturday the 14th? Either way, Jane should not be out for a run in her shape. Doing it to work off her feelings, they need an indoor running track at Whateley already. Ouch! Just what kind of pain tolerance does Jane have not to scream out?Jogging Path, Whateley

Just After Dawn
Oh boy, I knew she was on edge enough to do something like this. Popping out in front of her in winter camo gear from some bushes, not a good idea even if she weren't on edge already. Ugh, it is a Syndicate recruiter who saw her combat final and here to offer her a job after she graduates, where is Caitlin when you need her to deal with these recruiters?
*hits head on desk* These idiots think she is her own daughter! I would have punched him in the nose for a comment like that. Jane tries to intimidate the guy with details on Mille and what she did to Fusco, but no dice. Oh brother, jobs where you don't have to kill, yet offer to set her up as a spy or thief, as if no one in those jobs has ever had to kill.Jane's eyes turned blue, and she began to laugh. “All I want is to be left alone and forgotten.”
“That's not going to happen. You're Mille's daughter, and he taught you too well. Everyone is going to want you.”
Good, the blade in his neck sent the message, no more recruitment attempts.
If that doesn't send a clear enough message I don't know what will. Darn it, she is wrecking herself and aggravating her injuries just to get away from the feelings, memories, and Mille's laughter in her mind.“Good. Tell anyone who asks that I am not interested in following in my father's footsteps, but I will defend myself.”
Jane tries to ignore the pain just so Smile can go off to do stuff to cheer herself up, she is a good friend. Ack! Not the good fairy, bad fairy bit with Tink, you'll be sorry, Smile. World history and equations for math class, ack, Jane really is in for a boring day if she stays inside.Dickinson
After Breakfast
Yikes, that memory of Mille's or whatever his original name was as a kid, no wonder he is so messed up if school is prefered to being at home. Mrs. Nelson is there and Mrs. Carson wishes to see Jane, uh oh. Nothing bad for Jane, I wonder what this is about. Hehe, the reaction of students in trouble sent to Mrs. Carson's office to someone called in and not in trouble.
*facepalms* Even Carson and the school think Jane is MIlle's daughter, good grief.
I wish they had done to Fusco what they did the Tong of the Black Madonna for sending his henchmen after Shaun and putting him in Doyle in such bad shape. Ah, so they were going to have him eliminated for going after Shaun, if only Jane had been more patient.Carson raised an eyebrow. “If we had known that little detail, we could have more effectively dealt with Matthew Fusco. Having a student take it into their own hands to deal with a problem like him, and nearly dying in the process, is not something we can support.”
A half-truth, but still the truth about what would happen if anyone knew. Ultimatum from Carson, no going after any of MIlle's enemies or any more jobs like Mille took while at Whateley or she will hand Jane over to the MCO herself.“No. Neither does his mother. They never heard about me until I met him here. If you let anyone know, it will get them both killed.”
So glad they know that it took a lot for Jane to hold back from killing Counterpoint.
*starts setting off fireworks in celebration* It is about time that psycho is gone from Whateley.“Because he was trying to kill you, combined with his long list of previous infractions, we are officially charging him with aggravated assault alongside several other offences. We could increase the charges to attempted murder, but it was decided that aggravated assault would be easier to show in court. He will no longer be a student at Whateley, and will most likely spend the next several years in Arc where he can hopefully get the medical help he needs to deal with his anger issues.” The headmistress didn't look happy as she spoke.
The only reason the rest of the New Olympians would do that is if Imperious ordered them do, and he is arrogant enough to do it. Good idea with keeping a close idea on Jane, the number of idiots who will wish to challenge her, Ultraviolents who want to see if they can take her in a fight, etc. will be a lot right now.“I am going to speak to his friends, making sure they understand that this is my decision. If they are foolish enough to threaten you in any way, immediately go to security. And for the rest of the month, all the staff has been told to keep a close eye on you, so that no one tries to challenge or push you.”
Jane, please trust them and trust your friends, you don't need to leave Whateley to keep them safe.“Thank you. I... I really don't want to have to fight anyone.” For the first time, Jane let some of her real emotions show in front of an adult.
Carson's tone became sympathetic and gentle as she spoke. “I'll do my best to make sure that you don't have to. And if you'll trust us, it will make that promise easier to keep.”
Aww, table too quiet with Smile off playing shoulder angels with Tink. Cooper and Aella busy with notes for upcoming exams thus awkward silence between Jane and Shaun. Thud is pissed about what Shaun did to him in the combat final, stinking for the rest of the day after being betrayed, ouch. I hope Shaun can fix things with Thud and not make things worse.Crystal Hall
Suppertime
Jane has talked with Thud several times, huh. Thud turned pale and started shaking, he is terrified of Jane. Good deal to make himself even with Thud, a coat like that would probably be worth even more outside of Whateley. Thud and Jane have a private understanding, meaning stop asking questions about it, Shaun.
Detention every day until the end of January, you might call yourselves shoulder fairies, but Carson saw it differently. Parisian French, not Quebecois, ouch. Jane has to tell lies to cover up for her knowledge from her life as Mille once again, and she hates doing it to Smile. Monsters for parents is something Smile can understand, poor girl, I hope she can rescue her brother before they brainwash him or worse.Whateley
Mid-Morning
Sunday, December 15th, 2007
Jane, you should know Whateley is good at digging up secrets, it is up to you how those secrets are interpreted for your benefit. Jane, stop thinking like that, even without you in his life Shaun would still be targeted for being Mille's son. Ugh, they sent Majestic to talk to Jane, one of the manipulators.
No using those kind of spells on your fellow students! Too many of MIlle's old enemies would want his children dead. And Majestic, if Imperious tried anything he would be joining Counterpoint in jail.Something about the young woman made Jane want to gaze at her in wonder, listening to everything she had to say, hoping for just a hint of approval. Stubbornness and decades of living on the edge pushed the feelings back to a much more manageable polite attention. “OK.”
Stop using that power on Jane, you coward! Where is security right now, I thought they were keeping at eye on Jane so stuff like this wouldn't happen. Bit her tongue to keep from talking, cut her arm to use the pain to focus, Majestic has never faced someone like Jane before.
Majestic, I suggest you tell the rest of the New Olympians to leave Jane alone for their own good.“If you find out who set me up, let me know. Anything you would do to them is nothing compared to what I will do. Now I am going to continue my walk. Leave me alone and I'll leave you alone.”
I wonder whose eyes she had seen such madness in that far in the past. Could it be Galatea?Majestic watched her go, it was wasn't the first time someone had defied her, but she had never seen someone purposefully hurt themselves so badly to overcome her power. And the blue eyes had been filled with a madness she hadn't seen in millennia.
Team Tactics, Jane agrees only because she thinks she isn't coming back after Christmas vacation. Smile gets Jane to agree to take the civics class, she is just going through the motions with her friends right now. Advanced Survival, that is a class Shaun definitely needs. Cooper! Please let Jane relax, no questions about who taught her. *gulp* The way Jane answers Cooper, if that doesn't get him to never ask her another question like that again nothing will. Dang, Smile to the rescue with a speech, I'm proud of her. Jane doesn't want to be the leader for a good reason, I wish she would get a break for a while.Library

Ferret marched to Kane from his dorm, please let them have found something to nail him with. Darn, no evidence, but he is still the top suspect. Industrial espionage projects and they want him working for Whateley instead of in jail, what are they up to?Kane Hall
Afternoon
Oh, he is too much of an idiot not to slip up eventually. No work for the Good Ol' Boyz, no protection from everyone he is has pissed off on campus. They got him and there is nothing he can do about it, not as good as catching him for what he did to Murphy, but still really good fate for a true scumbag.“You are on probation. You will work under my supervision, helping out with any computer related issues that might come up. And I will watch over you, to make sure you keep your nose clean. If you screw up, or decide to be an idiot and do something illegal, those projects of yours will be handed over to the police.”
Anvil in line for dinner and sees Just Me, plans to beat her up to make a name for himself. Sees security is busy and goes right for her, dirty fighter to plan to bruise her ankle before the fight even starts. She dodges it with ease and acts like nothing is wrong, offering to let him cut in front of her. Attacks her with his tray again, eyes come from brown to blue, uh oh.Crystal Hall
Suppertime
Wednesday, December 18th
Leaves the line for the soup table, Anvil follows and keeps trying to goad her into a fight by attempts to trip her. She says to leave her alone or else, he thinks she needs a car to even challenge him, big mistake. A bowl of steaming hot tomato soup and he spits in it, expecting Jane to recoil in disgust. But she tosses it in his face, it goes right through the PK field and he gets burned. She burned her hands to grab the pot and tossed the whole thing on Anvil. 1st and 2nd degree burns from his face to his thighs, he asked for it. And a pot of chicken soup as well, never underestimate Jane. Jane has her hands up to surrender, Anvil's chest, stomach, and hands are already blistering. Never fight someone who will use anything in a cafeteria.
Bandaged hands from burns and a lecture from Chief Delarose. 50 feet to the nearest guard and she could have avoided all of this. Jane acts without thinking just like Mille did, she needs to unlearn that bad habit. 3 weeks helping in Doyle after the break for detention, if Jane comes back to Whateley. Jane! Stop running away from your problems, you said you would trust them to help you, yet you did the opposite once again.Doyle
Great, both the Spy Kids and the Capes watching Jane now. All the stress and Mille coming out since Friday is causing seizures more often, I hope that doesn't mean Mille is trying to take control of Jane. Ouch, uncontrolled shifting and Aella has to help Jane put her bandages back on her hands. Smile and Shaun care for you deeply, Jane, this confuses you since you only ever felt that from Katherine before now.Crystal Hall
Breakfast
Thursday, December 19th
Aella's healing spell is great, I hope she works in Doyle to improve her skill with them. Cooper! That boy needs to learn more tact. Subject change and when your girlfriend pokes you in the side to tell you that, don't bring it up again.
Shaun already finished his big project, the new polymer, that was fast. Seeing Katherine after 15 years, I think she is going to emotionally break down and cry in her arms while telling her all her worries and end up realizing that running away from this life and Whateley won't protect those she cares about. Okay, I'm projecting what I hope will happen, so sue me.Tunnels
Evening
Darn, you need to work on your poker face there, Jane. A trip-up like that and gave away to Shaun he is Mille's son. Dang, just how strong is Shaun he is able to stop Jane from running away? Crap, that darn reflex almost made her kill Shaun and now she is crying, she needs help. Shaun is a good friend to hold her while she cries, refusing to let her just jerk away. Mille's voice in her head needs to shut up, she needs to tell the staff the truth and get Fubar to remove Mille, she isn't Mille, she is Jane.
You don't have to run away to have a peaceful life, you have to work for it and not give up once things get hard again. Not Willie! Why hasn't that psycho been expelled and locked up somewhere for the good of everyone already? Shaun pulls out a large marble and throws it as a yellow cloud erupts from the gadget. Willie hits the slippery liquid at 50 mph and goes slip-sliding away, Monkeywrench's banana grease is a great invention.
Crud, Jane wants to go after him, but Shaun is able to reason with her as they go off into a side tunnel away from Willie.
If only she hadn't manifested, but would Fusco's men still have come after Shaun anyways?“Because Jane wasn't supposed to be a killer,” she whispered. “She... I... I was supposed to be quiet, harmless, peaceful. Grow up, go to college, learn something that would be calm and peaceful. Maybe become a librarian, and live a boring, peaceful life. None of this was supposed to happen. I didn't want any of this.”
Ouch, telling Shaun why Millie left him and Katherine behind, to keep the focus on himself and away from them. Tells another tale of how Mille found and trained her, not Shaun's sister, oh boy. Of how Mille 'died'. Shaun is a smart kid to put those pieces together, including how Jane bumped into him on purpose to meet him.
He knows about Mille's partner, Marionette, the history of where his dad and mom visited, oh boy, they left a trail for him without even realizing it. So Mom taught Shaun how to pick pockets, that explains his skill.
Huh, well family is family, doesn't matter if they are related by blood.Jane had to hide a smile at hearing Shaun call Magali his aunt. Mille had grown fond of the girl after rescuing her from the Paris MCO and paying for her to go to Whateley.
Shaun got his smarts from his mom, aww. Jane, sometimes the best things in life aren't planned.
Bwahaha, nice to see Jane get her sense of humor back. His mom would dress up as a magician and put on a show for his birthdays, I would like to see that too.“I wouldn't say that. You look really good in a dress,” Jane said with a leer, remembering his combat final cross dressing outfit.
Jane, Smile, and Shaun waiting for their ride. A friend of Shaun's mother is picking them up, hhm.Whateley Entrance
Morning
Friday, December 21st
Good message for Shaun to get, confirmation code to trust them and those foods sound yummy. A car in front and behind them, good thing Jerald informed Jane so quickly they are with him, I thought the same thing Jane did when they first appeared.“Shaun Solace, Jane Fisher, and Amber Ashton, I'm Jerald Canali, an attorney hired by Ms. Solace. My associate and I are here to get you to Tulsa.” He didn't look thrilled at having to do the job.
Boy, Katherine must have invested in a lot of good businesses to afford protection like this for Shaun.
Now that is a lot more businesses than I thought she would have invested in. I hope Jane is wrong and she isn't using them for money laundering.“She owns a limo company, a lot of vending machines, a string of laundromats, and she rents out bouncy houses for parties and events. And she's a partner in at least a dozen restaurants, along with a few other places. She likes to keep busy.”
*hits head on desk* Jane, you need to stop running and trust others for once so you can have a life you don't have to leave behind and friends you can stay with. Thinking about Smile as her best friend, you are breaking my heart here, you can't leave her and the rest of your friends behind, Jane. Yes, the mission would be a good thing, but I believe Whateley is already on the case of tracking down Smile's parents and rescuing her brother. Hunt down and kill criminals and supervillains, don't do it, Jane.
Small Berlin airport and everyone has their MIDs with them. Jane thinks she can get her plasma knife past security in her Mobius belt.
At least it won't get searched this way. It is good to have a lawyer like him to protect teen mutants from the MCO when they travel.Sighing, their babysitter said, “The MCO knows about your belt and what it can do. Everyone who watched your fight knows about it, and it's been added to your MID info. They will search it, and I'm pretty sure you have at least a few things you really shouldn't. Take it off, and my partner will put it in his carry on. They have no reason to suspect him of anything, and he'll keep it safe for you.”
Mr. Canali dealing with the MCO agents who upon hearing Jane's codename are alert, tell her to take off her belt, and even upon seeing she doesn't have it insist on taking her to a room for a private search.
Oh, he is good, he probably has a lot of experience dealing with MCO BS in the past.“She is listed as a risk due to her holdouts, training and powers. This is all standard procedure, sir.”
“Would you like me to phone Whateley and see what they have to say about you doing an advanced search? I understand that typically includes a strip search.”
“It's a part of our responsibilities, and it will be done by me, so it's all legal,” the woman replied.
“I'm sure it is. But I am still going to contact Whateley, and file a complaint with the airport, the MCO, and the police about your needless traumatizing of a child who was almost murdered a week ago. I also have Evolution Rocks, and several mutant friendly reporters on speed dial.” Jerald took out his phone for emphasis.
Just the scanner for JustMe, I'm so glad Shaun's mother paid for Mr. Canali, he is worth every penny. First class seats, Katherine doesn't spare any expensive for Shaun and his friends. Jane, you can't leave your life behind again, you have to stop running or you will never stop and it will hurt your friends more than if you stay. Please, let something happen to make Jane want to go back to Whateley, to keep her life as Jane and not just leave it all behind again.

I have a few responses and potential spoilers below.
Thanks for the comment, you're a gem.
Over a decade of being on the run with no one holding her down, and most of her adult life before than being a case of never settling down, staying on the move, and only letting one person get close, it wears a person down and affects how they react to things. Jane is going with ingrained instincts here.Jane seeing Dr. Markham, she is in rough shape and afraid her friends might be targeted to get at her. Smile, Aella, Cooper, and Shaun, afraid for their safety, thinking it might be better to leave Whateley and disappear for their safety, nooo!
Jane, please open up to Dr. Markham, so many people care about you now, don't just throw that away. Dang, the last person she trusted as Mille and doesn't want to betray that trust even now. A drawing of Katherine when she was 24, oh boy.
They've got some good reasons to suspect her. And they know how violent Whateley can be responding to threats. The match is a big reach however.
Still not out of the ordinary for them.
Katherine actually goes by the nickname Threads when she isn't using her real name. We'll find out why in Part 2.I like her, I wonder what name she goes by now. Aunt Magali coming with her kids, Uncle Pierre might not be able to make it, I hope none them knew Mille enough to recognize any of his traits in Jane.
A gadgeteer with a focus on mining, now that is a great specialize to have, no wonder Shaun wants to see his Uncle Pierre so much. Just needs someone to care for her, Jane definitely needs that and a whole lot more.
And Magali knows a fair bit about Mille. She's the girl rescued by Katherine and Mille in Paris back in the late 80's (Tarnished Angels).
As for someone to care about Jane over the holidays... Katherine is very protective of her son. So it's going to be fun!
I figure that Jane is pretty good at keeping her thoughts private, and the sheer depression and anger she feels overwhelms most of her thoughts from casual psychics. Anyone actually getting to her thoughts will be met with very, very nasty images and sensations, so most psychics probably avoid her as much as possible.Jane goes to get a shower and tries to ignore Geist who is spying on her, that girl needs to quit the Spy Kids before someone with more of a temper about being spied on catches her in the act. Oh god, Jane on the edge she is so close to combat mode, no one better sneak up right behind her. *eyes bug out* She is in that much pain that the old MIlle is coming out with those kind of thoughts of what to do to Geist to get her to back off, Jane is terrifying right now if you can read her thoughts.
And coming up with tools for her to use on Geist was fun. Couldn't have them too goofy, but still leave a lot to the imagination.
The two previous times, running away from home as a teenager, and then leaving Katherine.Going home for Christmas with Shaun only to sneak away after New Year, Jane, you won't be protecting your friends by doing this, only hurting them. Jane, planning all this out, the fact you are crying about abandoning your life for a 3rd time proves you need to talk to your friends and the staff at Whateley to come up with a better solution.
Turning into Jane and leaving Mille, isn't something she considers abandoning a life, that was suicide.
That was my screw up. I'll go fix it. It's supposed to be the 15th.Jogging Path, Whateley

Just After Dawn
*blinks* Is Friday the 14th or is Saturday the 14th? Either way, Jane should not be out for a run in her shape. Doing it to work off her feelings, they need an indoor running track at Whateley already. Ouch! Just what kind of pain tolerance does Jane have not to scream out?
And Jane has an insane pain tolerance. What average people would consider a 10, she'd probably say is a 7, maybe an 8. After a certain point you just become numb to the pain and deal.
Also Whateley does have the tunnels, and a regular gym. But Jane wants to be alone, and the discomfort of the cold helps her concentrate. As Mille, it was shown that he practiced self-harm, while Jane avoids cutting she is far from cured, and hurts herself in other ways.
Look at it this way. What's more believable, a well trained 14 year old girl who has some emotional issues, is the daughter of a psychotic assassin? Or she is the psychotic assassin who was so violent he couldn't get jobs anymore, and was barely able to fit into normal society?
*hits head on desk* These idiots think she is her own daughter! I would have punched him in the nose for a comment like that.Jane's eyes turned blue, and she began to laugh. “All I want is to be left alone and forgotten.”
“That's not going to happen. You're Mille's daughter, and he taught you too well. Everyone is going to want you.”
Whateley and some others suspect it might be the second option, and in 'Old Habits', Delarose lists it as one of the two biggest possibilities, but the first is more believable.
There was a bit of a discussion about what to do with Counterpoint. We went with the most realistic response.
In 'Sins of the Father Part 2', It's shown that Thud used to bully Jane. After Shaun was attacked in November, Jane let her psychotic side play, threatening Thud while holding a knife against his eye. Thud now leaves Jane ALONE, and probably still has nightmares.Jane has talked with Thud several times, huh. Thud turned pale and started shaking, he is terrified of Jane. Good deal to make himself even with Thud, a coat like that would probably be worth even more outside of Whateley. Thud and Jane have a private understanding, meaning stop asking questions about it, Shaun.
Jane is doing just that. As Mille's 'daughter', she is getting the focus on her, while avoiding having to legally pay for Mille's many, many crimes.Jane, you should know Whateley is good at digging up secrets, it is up to you how those secrets are interpreted for your benefit.
The Olympians (at least some of them) have a godly aura around them, a lot like Fey. So it's second nature to use it, especially for Majestic and Imperious.Stop using that power on Jane, you coward!
ANd security isn't watching her 24/7. If she's away from cameras, or in an isolated area, like the path, they can't watch her, or it will take some time to get there. It's unfortunate, but a fact of life.
And yeah, the Olympians are going to ignore Jane. For now.
A lot of Greek heroes weren't exactly stable, Majestic probably saw quite a few sociopaths, murderers, and people suffering from violent PTSD in her time.
I was a bit annoyed at having Cooper being so blunt so often, but he was the best character for it. And whle blunt, it's understandable why he'd want to know.Team Tactics, Jane agrees only because she thinks she isn't coming back after Christmas vacation. Jane doesn't want to be the leader for a good reason, I wish she would get a break for a while.
And I liked Smile's speech. It fits her perfectly, and makes sense that she's the one to say it, due to her own past.
It was fun using Ferret after he'd largely been forgotten. he's not going to have a big role in any of my stories, but he'll show up sometimes. He has his uses.Ferret marched to Kane from his dorm, please let them have found something to nail him with. Darn, no evidence, but he is still the top suspect. Industrial espionage projects and they want him working for Whateley instead of in jail, what are they up to?
Oh, he is too much of an idiot not to slip up eventually. No work for the Good Ol' Boyz, no protection from everyone he is has pissed off on campus. They got him and there is nothing he can do about it, not as good as catching him for what he did to Murphy, but still really good fate for a true scumbag.“You are on probation. You will work under my supervision, helping out with any computer related issues that might come up. And I will watch over you, to make sure you keep your nose clean. If you screw up, or decide to be an idiot and do something illegal, those projects of yours will be handed over to the police.”
This was the last scene I wrote. I hadn't planned it at first, but thinking of a potential character, I had a scene where they would use soup to get rid of someone they really didn't like. Pretty much exactly like this. I realized if I wanted that scene, it would have to appear here. And it worked out beautifully.Leaves the line for the soup table, Anvil follows and keeps trying to goad her into a fight by attempts to trip her.
It shows how Jane thinks and fights perfectly, not caring about her own health, using improvised weapons, surprise and brutality to win. I was thinking of having her use one of the pots to hit him on the head, but that wouldn't hurt Anvil, so she'd consider it a wasted effort and just reach for more soup.
Thinking of a suitable punishment was a pain here. Finally I settled on the detention given to Bladedancer, when she put Sharisa in Doyle with major injuries.Bandaged hands from burns and a lecture from Chief Delarose. 50 feet to the nearest guard and she could have avoided all of this. Jane acts without thinking just like Mille did, she needs to unlearn that bad habit. 3 weeks helping in Doyle after the break for detention, if Jane comes back to Whateley. Jane! Stop running away from your problems, you said you would trust them to help you, yet you did the opposite once again.
Mille isn't trying to take over. Mille is her, not another personality. It's just the bad side of her, that she's unintentionally personified as a way to deal with her past and trauma. This is her getting intrusive thoughts, much like a former addict or alcoholic can have their mind pushing them to their former addiction when stressed.Great, both the Spy Kids and the Capes watching Jane now. All the stress and Mille coming out since Friday is causing seizures more often, I hope that doesn't mean Mille is trying to take control of Jane. Ouch, uncontrolled shifting and Aella has to help Jane put her bandages back on her hands. Smile and Shaun care for you deeply, Jane, this confuses you since you only ever felt that from Katherine before now.
She needs therapy, but she will not open herself up to the right type.
And I liked this scene because it shows that Jane really doesn't think like an average, or mentally healthy person anymore. She can barely fake it.
Shaun is just an average teen boy physically. Unless Jane shifts to have more muscle, he's stronger than she is, so stopping her from running, while not easy, is very doable.Darn, you need to work on your poker face there, Jane.
Willie has only shown up once, fighting Diamondback and Eldritch trying to join Bloodwolf's crew. I figured it was time to pull him out of obscurity for a moment of slapstick.
And having Shaun show off that he's not helpless was an added bonus.
Oh yeah, Shaun was going to get threatened no matter what, and likely beaten. But if she hadn't gone to Whateley, or had never met Shaun, Jane would have been able to live her life in obscurity. She wouldn't have been 'Happy', and she likely wouldn't be able to form a very healthy long term relationship with someone, but a quite life, pretending to be harmless, going from work to home and people watching with a few hobbies, she could have managed it.Crud, Jane wants to go after him, but Shaun is able to reason with her as they go off into a side tunnel away from Willie.
Heck, if she had just let Whateley handle things, she could have pulled it off, with only a bit of suspicion from Whateley and Shaun.
I had originally thought that Shaun would remain in the dark about Mille being his father for the entire time, but it didn't really fit. So as I was writing this story, I decided to change my plans. He knows about Mille's partner, Marionette, the history of where his dad and mom visited, oh boy, they left a trail for him without even realizing it. So Mom taught Shaun how to pick pockets, that explains his skill.
The scene of him talking to his mother about this is an interesting one for Part 2.
Yes, Katherine is a completely normal and law abiding entrepreneur, who hasn't done anything bad since Mille left her.Boy, Katherine must have invested in a lot of good businesses to afford protection like this for Shaun.
Another nice bit where I can show that Jane has a very warped personality. Even when she tries to be nice, she's disturbing.*hits head on desk* Jane, you need to stop running and trust others for once so you can have a life you don't have to leave behind and friends you can stay with.
Yes, Jerald is a perfectly nice attorney, who is very good at his job, and would never do anything wrong.Small Berlin airport and everyone has their MIDs with them.
I'll say this, the Christmas vacation is going to be interesting. And I doubt people will be able to guess how it goes, there WILL BE TEARS!Jane, you can't leave your life behind again, you have to stop running or you will never stop and it will hurt your friends more than if you stay. Please, let something happen to make Jane want to go back to Whateley, to keep her life as Jane and not just leave it all behind again.
