Below is a stream of conscious commentary I type up as I read the story. There will be details from the story included in it. If you have not read the story yet and don't wish to have details of it spoiled, read no further.
Beginnings: A Tink Anthology comments
Beatrice putting on skin cream because of weird lines forming on her skin in various places, ouch. Stretch marks because of puberty, this is something much more serious. Moxie, her stuffed kitty, aww. Only started puberty at thirteen and is jealous of the other girls, oh boy.Buffalo, New York
March 2007
Petey is a cute little brother, so caring and insightful. Mother is cheating with her boss and breaking their father's heart, Bea, you should get advice from someone else right now. Having to explain to Petey all this, Bea is mature for her age and knows how to word things for a young audience. These two are just so sweet together, please let nothing bad happen to them.
Ugh, mom shows up ticked at Bea for telling Petey about what she did, upset that he doesn't see her the same anymore.
Striking Bea for this hard enough to knock her back on the bed, her mother only cares about herself and how she appears to others. Her mother strode forward, so they were practically nose to nose. “I expect you to help this family. Not break it apart. Your father and I are working things out, we don't need you fucking it up by turning Petey against me.”
“Maybe I'm tired of lying to him. Why shouldn't he know his mothers a whore, who doesn't give a damn about us?!” she shouted.
Her mother didn't get her the doctor appointment, okay, call child services on her right now. For all they know, she could have a slow-acting flesh-eating disease that if caught in time could be treated.April, 2007
Crud, her BIT is shaped by how she pictures herself and her desire to fly away. She didn't feel sick. If she was being totally honest, physically she felt better than ever. Emotionally, she pictured herself as a cracked and broken porcelain doll, thrown on the floor like garbage. Staring out the window, she dreamed of flying away and never coming back.
Their dad just avoids them and their mother now even when home, this situation needs the authorities to step in at this point before the mom does something that can't be taken back to one or both of the kids. Her back is grey and black with Petey being the first to notice, eep.
She panics and goes to tell her mother about it and how she needs to go to the doctor, and her mom thinks she got Petey to paint her back, and that Bea is acting out. Would it be wrong to slap some sense into this b**ch? Bea is in a fury and her mom is moving to strike her again, glowing black energy surrounds Bea and blunts the force of the blow to nothing. Energy wings, cool.
Sounds like an energizer whose body isn't used to their power and overexerted themselves, a lot of calories to replenish.“Bee, you have wings!” Petey said.
“Uh-huh,” she said. They suddenly vanished, leaving her feeling like she'd been running for hours. Collapsing to the floor, she could hear her mother calling 911, while Petey ran towards her calling her name.
Bea has a MID, and her grandmother is an anti-mutant bigot who wants Beatrice's name changed since it is also hers, ugh. Threatening to take her father out of the will if Bea's name isn't changed, her fraternal grandmother is scum imo.May, 2007
That is definitely not weak, a lot of potential. Giving her the codename Broken because she couldn't think of one, I want to smack the MCO agent who did that. Oh no, Bea is going to need a lot of counseling. Her brand new MID told her she wasn't weak, Exemplar 2, Energizer 2, Wizard 3, that should mean something.
Ouch, nice burn to the grandmother.“You want the name back,” she said to her grandmother, “it's yours. I never liked it much anyways.”
Mary, they could have found something close to her old name at least.June, 2007
Petey is the kind of kid brother we all need.Putting his arms around her, he said, “You'll always be you. That's why I love you.”
Ooo, interesting.“Magic.” Putting him down, she took out her notebook. She'd found a site on the net that had simple safe spells on it.
For her first spell it's great. The essence turned into a flickering silvery light, that looked like a star on a moonless winter night.
Not even looking at her face, her parents need to be more supportive right now. A jar of make-up used up in a month, plus stuck inside all summer because they don't want to buy her anymore, are you trying to make her stir-crazy? Practicing flying at night and her father is furious as he yells that Mary isn't supposed to be flying, he is trying to act like everything is normal when it isn't.
At this rate things aren't going to end well for Mary or her family, please no.“Why don't you just call the MCO and tell them to arrest me? You want to keep me in prison, you might as well make it official!” she shouted, storming to her room.
They found out about Whateley and Mary thinks they are just using it to get rid of her legally, *sigh*. Letters every week and calls every chance she gets, for kids 6 years apart they are very close.July, 2007
Mary off the train and waits with other teens for the bus to Whateley, psyching herself up as best she can.August, 2007
In Whitman and not the oddest one there, Porcelain probably has it worse for one. Roommate running late so Mary doesn't know who she is stuck with yet. Arrggh, I only just got it now. This is Tink's roommate, Mary, never seen her description before or I don't remember it that well. She will be cheered up soon, whether she likes it or not. =P

Patrick skateboarding through town to meet up with his friends at Ellesmere Skate Park. And ouch, big hangout whittled down to a few by all those things, I remember those. Picks up all those scents but stronger, unpleasant whine in his ears, and then by all the sounds around him, sounds like he manifested and gained superhuman senses, yeowch. Knocked out by hitting a car's hood due to the disorientation of sensory overload, bad day for Patrick.Scarborough, Greater Toronto Area, Canada
June, 2007
In a hospital bed with a sore head and itchy leg, in a cast due to being fractured, *winces*. Augmented senses are still active and he doesn't realize it yet. A chat with his mom and the pieces are coming together as his mom goes to get the doctor. Now, where did this dog come from, seems starved a bit and whining at Patrick for food. Aww, he wanted to be petted. How in the....can that dog teleport? Is it some modified dog or what?
A mask and headphones to deal with his superhuman senses, could be worse. Patrick doesn't want people to think he is crazy because of the dog, but it doesn't come when he calls. The Next Day
He feels something and is told to pick a name for the dog, Mutt, the name fits the dog well. And calling upon Mutt with a name while focusing works, don't tell me Mutt is a manifestation and part of Patrick's powers? They sat in silence for a minute, his Dad looking thoughtful. “When you called him, did you feel anything? Something in your head?”
“Nnnoooo. Why?”
“Close your eyes, and try to ignore everything around you. Focus on your mind and feelings.”
He gave his Dad the side eye. “You're being weird.”
“Trust me.”
His dad is a low-level avatar, huh.
So Patrick is an avatar and Mutt is his spirit, that is different, most avatars can't manifest their spirit like that. Well, Kayda, but is a rare exception to the rule. MID, I wonder what Patrick's power ratings are.His Dad nodded. “When I was about your age I started getting weird sensations, noticing things I shouldn't, able to tell if something dangerous was about to happen, and a sense there was something else in my head. I started calling my spirit Frank, and it seemed to like it, I could sense it more easily and my danger sense got a bit better. I think he's a rodent of some kind.”
Power testing went well, must be a nice branch down there. Mutt is made out of ectoplasm, he is going to get rated a Manifestor due to this, isn't he? Learning how to tune out excess sensory input, I wish I could do that with my hearing. Fetch, I still can't believe he chose that codename for himself.August 2007
Uh oh, having Mutt manifest when anyone could be watching, was a bad move. 3 nasty-looking 20-somethings, things just got worse. Mutt can grow bigger and doesn't like these men threatening his owner, run, you fools, run! The Fool and Firecracker, great, a "hero" who doesn't hold back, I can't stand those.
The Fool disrupts Mutt's form and then raises his blade at Patrick, this psycho needs to be locked up for threatening a kid! Mutt goes to defend Patrick and only goes back into Patrick's mind when admonished by Patrick.
I want to know how this psycho hasn't been locked up already.Turning to face the heroes, Patrick gulped as The Fool loomed over him.
“This fool would like to know what just happened,” the hero said, his broken sword dangerously close to Patrick's chest.
“I can explain,” he said.
Great, they consider Mutt dangerous and wish for his parents to send Patrick to Whateley Academy. Patrick is responsible for anything Mutt does, this is a serious complication. The Ride Along Program sounds good in principle, but there has to be more of a catch to it than what is being said here, I'm suspicious. I hope a dog obedience program works for Mutt.Ministry of Supernatural Affairs (MSA) Office
That night
On the train now, and Mutt comes out only to be spotted by none other than Tink.Boston
End of August
Mutt must be in a small form or Tink wouldn't be calling him little. Bwahaha, just reading all this dialogue, Tink could probably leave a Zen monk confused. But she and Mutt are adorable together.“You're just an adorable little thing aren't you!” she cooed.
Horizon
Lindsey with her bike calling rollerblades lame even though her friend Sandy uses them to get around.Thunder Bay, Canada
Early August, 2007
Don't tell me, just manifested and her power can cause any object she touches up to a certain weight to be launched at high velocity in a straight line, at least that seems to be what happened. As her hand touched the bike it shot away, jerking Lindsey off her feet, before slamming into a nearby brick wall so hard it crumpled. Lindsey laid on the ground for a moment, too stunned to do anything, then she began shrieking, clutching her arm.
Broke Lindsey's arm in the process severely and mangled her fingers, at least Sandy is keeping her head together to help her friend. Oh good, getting help to keep her injuries from getting worse, doing first aid to the best of Sandy's ability with the resources at hand. The index finger is nowhere in sight, the ambulance shows up and the shock starts to hit Sandy. This is like something you see at a car wreck.
Sandy is being interrogated by the police with an MCO agent there, if not for her father's presence I think she would break down crying again.
Scare tactics to mess with a potential mutant, this is sickening.“In the current situation, that is correct,” she replied. “However, if your daughter is a mutant and this was a tragic uncontrolled use of her powers, it would be best for everyone's safety to confirm it as soon as possible.”
Hah! Ms. Gagnon, you don't get to mess with someone who might not even be a mutant this time.“No, I'll set it up through the Ministry of Supernatural Affairs,” he said, cutting her off, “and we'll do it in Toronto. They have the best resources there, we don't want to miss anything because we went for speed rather than thoroughness.”
Good idea, always get someone versed in the particular laws you are dealing with.“Mark Latimer, an old classmate. He deals with mutant law. Not the best in the country, but he's good, and he lives for these types of case." She looked at her husband. "You really don't remember him, do you?"
If only more people were like her mother when it came to newly manifested mutants.“OK then. We don't blame a person who is doing everything safely but has an accident that hurts someone else. We investigate it, learn what happened and why, and avoid it in the future,” her mother said. “If, and it's a big if. If you do have powers, you need to learn what they are and how to control them, so accidents don't happen.”
Pen flies out her Sandy's hand without warning, just what is her power to cause all this? Some sort of kinetic manipulation or TK perhaps? Sandy, as your mother said you didn't mean to hurt Lindsey, nothing is going to happen. The Next Day
Stranger and stranger. The list was longer than she liked, with things falling out of her hand or suddenly being out of reach when she reached for them, and now this happened.
Her doing first aid and directing everyone to help out Lindsey was the right thing to do no matter what happens. Black cherry ice cream, yum. Crud, now she knows she did it and is freaking out, trying to calm down, but fails and her mother goes to touch her and gets hurled into a wall. Noooo! Please don't let her mom be dead, not that, not by her powers.
Military plane to Whateley with Ms. Gagnon as her MCO escort, not good. Horizen as her codename. Your parents, oh good, her mother survived. Oh crud, mom is still in the hospital and might never walk again, they need a Healer.Mid-August
Please, listen to what your father is saying and take it to heart, Sandy.“Sandy,” he said, kneeling down beside her, “I want you to know that we still love you. Nothing will ever change that. When you get to Whateley, you train as hard as you can so that you can control your powers. As soon as you do that, your mother and I will fly down there and give you the biggest hug you've ever had.”
Sandy wrecked her desk and is afraid to come to the common room, afraid to hurt anyone with her power.Hawthorne Cottage
Early September
She got Tink as her English tutor, she is a lot harder to hurt than anything else Sandy has encountered.Mrs. Cantrel nodded in understanding. “Your English tutor will be coming this afternoon. She's here for detention, but she's extremely enthusiastic.”
Samson
A huge man in a bad outfit moving through town and being avoided by everyone.Toronto, Canada
August
Picked the body, is he a shapeshifter, can possess others, a spirit riding a corpse, or is something stranger going on? Strange things are going on here. Ah, shapeshifter it is. Needs to keep moving and hopes no one recognizes him, what trouble has this poor soul gotten into? The man didn't worry about the looks of disgust he attracted. In fact he wanted people to avoid him, it was why he picked the body. It was safe.
Now at a soup kitchen in a different shape to get more to eat, nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Eating like that has drawn unwanted attention anyways. Properly eating his supper, what was he doing before?
Goes into Queen City Heroes Center and reveals what I believe is his true form, finally asking for help. Good, I was starting to get worried about his survival chances on the streets.
Okay, maybe the Fool isn't so bad after all, he can be kind to those who need it. 13 and barely ate anything in 4 days, no wonder he finally asked for help.
A reaction like that, I already guessed his parents tried to kill him before reading it, how can anyone do that to their own child?“Where are your parents?”
The heroes jumped back as the young man grew in size, becoming eight feet tall, very thick and covered in muscles. His terrified expression was more eloquent than any words could be.
Oh crap, he needs a lot of help. Adam, nice name. And call people to get him help, I hope his parents are arrested.“Is this your real face?”
He shook his head. “I woke up like this. It's like a shell. I can't get rid of it.”
Adam Newman is Patrick and Mutt's roommate, just the kind of people they both need to be around. And Patrick worried about Tink attacking him, right as he says it Tink shows up to hug and kiss Mutt, so adorable.Whateley
End of August
Tink has no confidence issues about her looks at all. And Patrick is right, trying to resist Tink is like trying to resist a force of nature.“Wow, you're big! Come on, my roommate and I are about to eat supper, you can sit with us. It will really help your reputations as lady's men by sitting with two gorgeously hot babes on your first day.”
I loved all the origin stories for each character, a nice mix of action, comedy, and drama throughout. Broken hit me the hardest, the way her mother treated her at first, taking out her own frustration on her daughter; I wish I could have slapped some sense into that woman. At least she calmed down after Bea collapsed. Petey is the best little brother ever and I love the relationship these two siblings have despite their large age difference. And the grandmother, I would have cut her out of my life at that point for talking about my child that way.
Patrick and Mutt were fun to watch, even the sensory overload was done well. I'm glad he is gaining some control over his superhuman senses and has already made some friends at Whateley. Plus I like his dad, not every mutant needs to register for Pete's sake.
Horizon has an interesting power that kept me a little confused for a while. Her mother and father are great parents, even after everything that happens they still love her unconditionally. I hope Sandy can gain control of that immense power she possesses and be able to safely touch others without worry again soon.
Adam, his parents make me question the sanity of some parents to even think of doing that to their own child. I'm just glad he found help, is at Whateley now, and is already making friends.
I hope we see more of all of them in the future even if just as side or background characters in Tink's stories.

But there were no tears or threats of breaking your computer. I'll have to increase the darkness in Cat and Mouser Part 2.
You should know by now, anytime I have a cute, sweet and innocent character, I'm going to mess with them. The only question is if they're going to survive it or not.Petey is a cute little brother, so caring and insightful. Mother is cheating with her boss and breaking their father's heart, Bea, you should get advice from someone else right now. Having to explain to Petey all this, Bea is mature for her age and knows how to word things for a young audience. These two are just so sweet together, please let nothing bad happen to them.
I always planned on Mary's parents being nasty, I hadn't quite expected them to jump so far into evil so quickly. But it worked, and it helps explain why her BIT is odd.Her mother didn't get her the doctor appointment, okay, call child services on her right now. For all they know, she could have a slow-acting flesh-eating disease that if caught in time could be treated... Crud, her BIT is shaped by how she pictures herself and her desire to fly away.
As I was writing, I wanted to punch her mother and give her father a good kick in the ass.She panics and goes to tell her mother about it and how she needs to go to the doctor, and her mom thinks she got Petey to paint her back, and that Bea is acting out. Would it be wrong to slap some sense into this b**ch? Bea is in a fury and her mom is moving to strike her again, glowing black energy surrounds Bea and blunts the force of the blow to nothing. Energy wings, cool.
I thought that showing the wings would be a big hint as to Bee's identity at Whateley. They're shown in her very first appearance where she tries to threaten the doberman bully who smashed Tink into the floor.
No one in her family is particularly nice, except Petey, he's a little angel.Bea has a MID, and her grandmother is an anti-mutant bigot who wants Beatrice's name changed since it is also hers, ugh. Threatening to take her father out of the will if Bea's name isn't changed, her fraternal grandmother is scum imo. ... Giving her the codename Broken because she couldn't think of one, I want to smack the MCO agent who did that. Oh no, Bea is going to need a lot of counseling.
Ouch, nice burn to the grandmother.“You want the name back,” she said to her grandmother, “it's yours. I never liked it much anyways.”
And despite Mary's depression, she's still got a backbone and a snarky side to her. She's damaged, not broken.
Mary does like her makeup. Not even looking at her face, her parents need to be more supportive right now. A jar of make-up used up in a month, plus stuck inside all summer because they don't want to buy her anymore, are you trying to make her stir-crazy?
But honestly when Mary first came about she had far different powers, basically she was a vampire mage. Things happened, so I changed her powers a bit, gave her wings, lost some vampire traits but was still going to have her drinking blood. Then due to behind the scene things, I felt that I needed to lose the vampire stuff completely. Unfortunately by that point she'd already appeared in canon.
I had the idea of a broken angel, but how to explain her lack of cracks and grey skin? MAKEUP to the rescue! Just needed a good reason she'd want to use it so often.
I honestly can't remember how I came up with Fetch and Mutt. I knew I needed an 'every man' character to take in the general insanity, while also being a voice of reason (a role shared with Mary), but how I came up with a manifesting dog spirit, I have no idea. Now, where did this dog come from, seems starved a bit and whining at Patrick for food. Aww, he wanted to be petted. How in the....can that dog teleport? Is it some modified dog or what?
Yes, Fetch's MID does have a Manifestor rating on it. While I'm still stepping on Kayda's niche, I thought this would differentiate and explain it away. And Kayda's White Buffalo and Mutt are VERY different spirits.Power testing went well, must be a nice branch down there. Mutt is made out of ectoplasm, he is going to get rated a Manifestor due to this, isn't he? Learning how to tune out excess sensory input, I wish I could do that with my hearing. Fetch, I still can't believe he chose that codename for himself.
For Fetch's codename, he did say earlier he sucked at names. Also it's not like he planned on using it very often.
The Fool is an interesting character I came up with, I'm hoping to do a little short story to show off his background. The Fool and Firecracker, great, a "hero" who doesn't hold back, I can't stand those.
...
The Fool disrupts Mutt's form and then raises his blade at Patrick, this psycho needs to be locked up for threatening a kid!
...
Mutt goes to defend Patrick and only goes back into Patrick's mind when admonished by Patrick. I want to know how this psycho hasn't been locked up already.
I can say he's very careful about limiting collateral damage, never attacks a non-criminal, and will almost always offer a criminal a chance to surrender. Also when a big deadly threat comes up, they put him in the front line because he's fucking nuts and one of the best fighters in the country.
And he's mellowed out over the last decade.
Well Mutt is dangerous, and if the spirit hurts someone who isn't attacking Patrick they can't exactly put the spirit down like a dangerous animal.Great, they consider Mutt dangerous and wish for his parents to send Patrick to Whateley Academy. Patrick is responsible for anything Mutt does, this is a serious complication.
They won't like punishing Patrick, but a bully slamming him into a locker doesn't deserve being mauled by a giant dog and possibly killed.
This scene was fun to write. On the train now, and Mutt comes out only to be spotted by none other than Tink.
Mutt must be in a small form or Tink wouldn't be calling him little. Bwahaha, just reading all this dialogue, Tink could probably leave a Zen monk confused. But she and Mutt are adorable together.“You're just an adorable little thing aren't you!” she cooed.
Very good guess. She's a warper who controls momentum on the horizontal plane. Limited, yet also extremely powerful.Don't tell me, just manifested and her power can cause any object she touches up to a certain weight to be launched at high velocity in a straight line, at least that seems to be what happened.
Sandy was originally FAR different.
The very first version wasn't actually mine, but a fanfic writer I wrote two or three stories with back in 2014-2015, Smallish-Beans?, Gray-Beans?, can't remember exactly and I've lost the old stories. She was a spider MtF changling in Hawthorne. She was a sad character because she would go animalistic when surprised or woken quickly, she killed several people by accident.
When the writer vanished, and I started to prepare Tink for canon, I wanted to keep the character, at least the general idea, without ripping the character off. So I turned her more insect like, with a similar rage problem, and lost the changeling status. But she just never really gelled in my mind.
So I went back to the drawing board. Her powers on paper seem so limited, but I like that type of challenge. As I thought of what she can do, and how I could abuse it I started laughing. It was also easy to keep the tragic aspect of her powers.
Horizon has an interesting future ahead of her.
I didn't want to give any of the characters a nemesis (except Mary's parents), but having the MCO a low key threat helped add to the tension.Sandy is being interrogated by the police with an MCO agent there, if not for her father's presence I think she would break down crying again.
Scare tactics to mess with a potential mutant, this is sickening.“In the current situation, that is correct,” she replied. “However, if your daughter is a mutant and this was a tragic uncontrolled use of her powers, it would be best for everyone's safety to confirm it as soon as possible.”
With Sandy's parents, I thought about how I would hope I'd react in a similar situation and how I'd calm down my daughter. It was easier writing them than Mary's.If only more people were like her mother when it came to newly manifested mutants.
I already have a rough draft of their first meeting, it's freaking hilarious.Sandy wrecked her desk and is afraid to come to the common room, afraid to hurt anyone with her power.
She got Tink as her English tutor, she is a lot harder to hurt than anything else Sandy has encountered.Mrs. Cantrel nodded in understanding. “Your English tutor will be coming this afternoon. She's here for detention, but she's extremely enthusiastic.”
Adam is actually very loosely based off of a character I came up with for a microfiction back in 2015.A huge man in a bad outfit moving through town and being avoided by everyone.
A teen tries to help his mutant friend get out of town but they're chased down and he watches as his father shoots his friend.
A year later he manifests and can create an ectoplasm shell around his body changing his appearance. So he practices and then proceeds to murder his mother (who supported his father and wanted to kill him), killed the sheriff and several others who shot his friend, and framed his father for it all.
Adam is FAR nicer than that. But the idea of a small teen who can alter his size and appearance at will intrigued me. So I came up with a cool backstory, new personality, and a few other things, that will be explored in the future. You'll see soon enough. It's a cool part of his power. Now at a soup kitchen in a different shape to get more to eat, nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Eating like that has drawn unwanted attention anyways. Properly eating his supper, what was he doing before?
He has to get to Whateley somehow.Goes into Queen City Heroes Center and reveals what I believe is his true form, finally asking for help. Good, I was starting to get worried about his survival chances on the streets.
Not only did he barely eat for 4 days, but he's also had his power working every single second of that time, awake and asleep. He's starving to death. It's the only reason the terrified kid asked for help.Okay, maybe the Fool isn't so bad after all, he can be kind to those who need it.
And see The Fool isn't all bad. Just don't commit a crime near him.
Patrick was always going to be part of Tink's crew. So I made Adam to be a good fit. They're going to have some adventures of their own later on.Adam Newman is Patrick and Mutt's roommate, just the kind of people they both need to be around. And Patrick worried about Tink attacking him, right as he says it Tink shows up to hug and kiss Mutt, so adorable.
And Teri is all about confidence. Never let them see you cry.Thank you very much. I tried to make each story a little different from the other, while setting up future plot threads, basic background and some mysteries.I loved all the origin stories for each character, a nice mix of action, comedy, and drama throughout.
...
I hope we see more of all of them in the future even if just as side or background characters in Tink's stories.
These four are going to be part of Tink's crew, so they'll be showing up a lot as soon as she gets to Whateley. I also have individual summer stories already planned for most of them. At least one of the stories will be a 3 parter, and it's going to be explosive.
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers

Originally, when she was still going to be a vampire, her codename was going to be Bloody Mary, usually shortened to Mary. She was not going to use her actual name very often due to her family problems.
Trying to come up with a codename after I came up with her final design was tough.

She bit back a groan. How was she supposed to tell a six year old about their mother cheating with her boss, without actually saying it. She could barely understand it. They'd been a happy family, now it was broken all thanks to their mother. “You know what happened. Mom did something bad, and hurt Dad's feelings. They're trying to make things better, but it's going to take time to fix it."
Ooof. Broken skin, broken family... "Broken" indeed.
...
"She didn't feel sick. If she was being totally honest, physically she felt better than ever. Emotionally, she pictured herself as a cracked and broken porcelain doll, thrown on the floor like garbage. Staring out the window, she dreamed of flying away and never coming back."
Heh. That dramatic irony!
...
And Police / MCO... Not too bad! Main issue was codename selection!
...
She was Broken. Her life was Broken. Her family was Broken.
Ah. Getting real direct!
...
Well, her parents are trying. They somehow found out about Whateley. Took them about a month.
And why does Tink's house have batteries? EDIT: I guess for lights and stuff.
And Rosebush for Rose Blossom remembering!

Tinks house has batteries for a hair drier, water pumps, lights and charging her phone. Mouser went all out on the gift.
And yes the rosebush is the same one she picked up in the grocery store and treated like a surrogate Rose Blossom to talk to.

EDIT: Also, happy Canada Day Weekend!

Fetch's cover image! Such energy just from the presence of such a BIG DOG!
And then story starts calmly! Heh!
Then Sudden Sense Enhancement! Ouch! Then it gets worse! ... I wonder if he's turning into the dog, and the cover image is showing him before and after transformation...
Apparently not, if I'm right on what the Hospital Dog is. (Avatar Spirit)
“How do you know all of this?” Patrick demanded.
Indeed. Magical Heritage that he wasn't going to be told about unless it became relevant?? ... Sorta.
And first mutant power incident. Those aren't the most cheery names they've got. But it does allow for some puns! That fool probably could've handled things better, but Mutt and Fetch are learning more about the balance of power between them, obedience training-ness, etc.
MSA first appearance!
the agent said, his mouth twisting like he'd bitten into a lemon.
And he's letting them know the facts, and advising them well!
Heroes of Tomorrow program.”
“The Ride Along Program?
Nice program!
“Of course,” the agent said. “But I must insist that Patrick immediately begin taking a dog obedience program.”
Makes sense!
Surprise Tink!
“You like me! You really like me!”
Sally Fields Mandela Effect! heh!
“Uh, I don't think that's a word. And what?”
Mutt and Teri ignored his confusion.
They *both* ignore him! HA!

Fetch was fun to write. It's so uncommon for me to write someone whose life doesn't suck or get horrifyingly bad, that I really enjoy stories like this.
Well back to the nightmare fuel.
