Sprite 2: I Think I'm a Clone Now Part 3 comments
Aww, all dressed up and at a party with Shannon, and Vanessa feels nothing but emptiness. Halloween is just meh now; taking that away from someone in their early teens is a crime. Shannon is only there for Vanessa's sake. Vanessa just wanted to give them both back a slice of their childhood. Sticking to a small group at parties, ah, there is something I remember.Holbrook Arena
Monday, October 31st, 2016 – Evening
Good choice, unless you are trying to blend in and not be noticed.I was dressed as the Pirate Fairy from that most recent Tinkerbell movie, while Shannon was dressed in the Alice in Wonderland costume we borrowed from the drama nerds.
It wasn’t the usual Alice costume, though. Shannon was wearing the American McGee version with a black wig and a dark blue and white knee-length apron dress with blood splatters all over it.
Okay, which girl chose to wear that costume? Ooo, cute outfit Miss Rogers made for Vanessa."Should I be surprised that the one person running around, keeping the party foods stocked, is a black girl in a Renfair wench outfit?"
I hope some justice for the bigotry of his parents playing a part in Vanessa's fate happens.I almost regretted that my former old man couldn’t see me in this, that would've been the Best Aneurysm Ever.
Homely, I should have known. Boy, that line by Tabbie as she left them, great Alice in Wonderland quote. Yes, always let others try the punch first at these kinds of parties; you never know what it might be spiked with."No. It's just that back in the City, the 'hired help' is usually black. The folks in charge like to pretend they're better than that,” he explained. “Yet there's always a separate service entrance. Go figure."
Said "serving wench" took that as an opportunity to introduce herself as she looked one part annoyed and two parts amused. "By the by, my name is Tabbie Dieulafoy, and I do come from a long line of discreet suppliers and listeners. What about you, Alice?"
Okay, I now hope her biological parents have some true justice served to them.I still had nightmares sometimes of the horrible things he had said and done to me when he had too much to drink.
People acting weirder than usual for Whateley, what did they spike the punch with?
So either magical or a devisor concoction to spike the punch. Oh boy, being an empath at this party right now, get Shannon out of there! Oh no, that smile! What kind of fun are you thinking of, Vanessa? Act like you drank the punch, Vanessa. Please don't make things worse. They were all strangely euphoric and acting like the costumes they were wearing.
Grab a tablecloth, and yup, Shannon is being affected by everyone who drank the punch.
Why do I get the feeling this group is behind the spiking of the punch? Dang, Shannon needs to practice that skill, impressive. A big sack, Vanessa, are you planning on stealing all the stuff on the snack table, then ditching the party with Shannon?I noticed that they were drinking cans of soda rather than the punch, so that probably explained things.
Yes, snap him out of this; it is getting creepy now.I physically grabbed his ear and told him in my most serious voice, “Buddy, I’m gonna need you to focus here. Whatever weirdness is making you space out, I need you to stop letting it win. You’re stronger than that. Focus on my voice, and then focus on what we’re doing. We have a quest, and I need you right now. Think, Shannon, what would Frodo do?”
Ah, good, empath feedback can be scary to see in action. Ah, just taking the candy, now that is what Halloween is supposed to be about.Something that I said seemed to get through to him as he shook his head vigorously, nearly dislodging me from his ear in the process, as I was whipped around.
The sooner Shannon is away from the party goers that have been messed up by the spiked punch, the better. Breasts jokes about the chocolate incident, Vanessa, you have a twisted sense of humor. Hehe, okay, the scheme sounds fun now, act like a pirate since it's her costume, and ham it up as they loot the candy and leave.“You do remember what happened the last time we shared sweets, right? Yeah, nothing could possibly go wrong with this.” Ah, and there was the snark; my buddy was back, even if he still looked like he was having trouble focusing.
Because Vanessa is the only person you have made friends with since you came to Whateley. Shannon's roommate, Sky Dude, okay, I'm with Vanessa, he needs to get a better codename. Blues Brothers costume and acting the part, who spiked the punch? Grande in a bright pink ballerina costume, like right out of Fantasia.Shannon’s expression just screamed, ‘Why do I hang out with you, again?’
Oh god, it is like they are asking for a pirate to steal them. Cap'n Sprite, she is really hamming it up.I zipped toward the bowl containing those chocolates with the gold foil covering them, which were meant to look like gold coins first; it was just too appropriate to resist.
Smarties, please don't let Vanessa get hyper off of those. Only stealing the snacks off one table, and just the prepackaged stuff, good idea, don't get too greedy.
Gah! Don't give Domo ideas for what to do with Tink! Oh god, the B-movie level lines and cheese, make it stop before I hurt my stomach laughing.I mean, how many people can say they were held up by a five-inch-tall pirate fairy and a goth Alice in Wonderland for all their candy?
Halloween will never be close to normal at Whateley. At least it was safe this time. Ouch, this is why you don't pull such a stunt with receptive empaths among the student body. I wonder what Polly and Peter are up to. Great, a deliberate bump by Weaponeer to try and make Shannon drop the lunch tray. He and Phototech need to be on a list of troublemakers at Whateley.Crystal Hall
Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 – Lunchtime
Yes, get them focused on you, Vanessa, but don't let them hurt you, or it will only make Shannon angrier and things worse.
Oh, bully thinks he can dish it out, but once someone else throws stuff back he doesn't like, Weaponeer thinks he can tell them what they can say.“Why don’t you and your asshole friend go fuck yourselves. Or each other, I don’t give a shit what you do in the privacy of your bedroom, unlike some people who like to try to start shit.”
“What?! You can’t just…” he hissed like an overboiling teapot about to reach maximum entropy.
I'm with Vanessa, zero tolerance policies have made it where bullies can say whatever they want, but the second a victim fights back, they get punished.“Can’t what, Asshole? Insinuate you’re gay and try to start a fight? Is that solely your shtick? I’m gonna tell you this just once. You don’t want this to fucking escalate, because I give zero fucks about school rules or holding back against bullies like you, and if you mess with my friend again, you’ll be picking your teeth up off the floor.”
Never reveal your capabilities unless you absolutely have to, and make them think you are crazy or won't back down. Hah, Weaponeer thinks he could put Vanessa into Doyle, what a joke. Vanessa, don't mess with Shannon like this.
Doodled in a Sharpie. *facepalms* You definitely have some of the spirit of Tink in you, Vanessa. It was a really cute cartoon fairy, too, with an eyepatch, tricorn hat, and everything. Below the picture, it said, ‘Property of Cap’n Sprite’, though it probably would have been too small for him to read anyway.
At least Shannon isn't thinking about what Weaponeer said anymore.“Well, duh, but do you know how much effort went into that? I had to shrink the Sharpie before the party and then wait for the right moment, and…”
He didn’t let me finish. “Why the hell are you my friend again?”
“Ooh, I know that one! It's because I'm a Fairy and you're a fantasy nerd and all over that shit,” I teased in reply.
Vanessa, even a counselor like Dr. Bellows, with his power, has to have a patient open up to him to be able to truly help. That is a lot of candy, though, at your size, I would think it would last a lot longer. Becky is outside waiting for Vanessa. Why does she need Vanessa to come with her? Ooo, Ms. Reilly is their faculty advisor, Vanessa is in for a treat meeting Fey. Heh, so Fey still keeps the fact that she is essentially a Sidhe queen under wraps from most people.Doyle Medical Center
Saturday, November 5th, 2016 – 10:04 a.m.
Oh, into The Grove for the meeting.
Wait, does Nikki keep her office near the World Tree sapling?? Becky, The Grove hates fires and those who start them. The fact that you can still enter it unharmed shows how much it cares about Nikki's opinion.“I did, because these woods can be dangerous, and you didn’t have permission to enter then, but now you do, and you’re with me. We’re among a very small group of people who have permission to enter The Grove. Or you will be if Ms. Reilly okays it, and The Grove doesn’t hate you or something. Usually, though, The Grove keeps people it doesn’t want there from entering in the first place.”
Genius Loci, The Grove is all around you and has a strong presence.
Trust me, even the Greek Gods are children compared to how old The Grove is. Aww, happy to have another Fairy joining them in The Grove. It felt old, and eerily familiar for some reason that I couldn’t define, and something funky was going on with the essence here, too. I had sensed that when we were approaching, but now it was all I could think of, save for the overwhelming presence that accompanied that feeling.
The Fairies have been wanting to meet Vanessa, oh boy. Good friend, Gwen, is she talking about Absinthe? Oof, Fey was already a beauty at 15; now, as an adult, she takes the breath away of anyone who sees her. Don't tell me all Fae creatures like fairies and such will react this way to Fey. Watching over the World Tree, no wonder she is so busy. Nikki knows about what happened to Vanessa, no wonder, someone who has been through a similar experience with years of experience will be a lot of help.
All these years, and it is still only a shoot; World Trees take centuries or longer to reach their full size, don't they? And already giving off this much energy, whoa. Becky has been helping Nikki with the World Tree for 3 years; there is an experience you can't find anywhere else. There was a single green shoot in the center of the clearing that could be nothing other than the ‘World Tree’ that Ms. Reilly mentioned earlier, a shoot that was between four and five feet high, if I had to guess. I only called it a shoot in my mind because it didn’t look like even a sapling yet, despite its size. No, this was merely a huge green seedling, and if it was that big as a seedling, how massive would it become as a fully realized tree?
Do it! The experience alone will live with you the rest of your life. Oh, Vanessa, you need to stop blaming yourself for what happened with your ex.“First, please don’t tell any of your fellow students about this; The Grove is generally off limits to students, and few know about the World Tree, even among Whateley’s staff. Part of keeping it safe is keeping it secret,” she replied, holding up one finger. Then she raised a second as she added, “And second, Becky will be graduating this year, and I know that she has plans for her life that will no longer include Whateley Academy. I need somebody to take her place next year once she is gone, a new assistant to help me with my work here during the school year, and perhaps occasionally during the summer as well.”
Yeah, if anyone knows about mistakes and making things right, it is Nikki. A TA on paper and learning a teleportation spell to commute and avoid the MCO sounds great. All that, and you still are hesitating. You need a big push here, Vanessa. Shoot, we all need a friend to say what Becky is saying to Vanessa when a hard decision comes up. Feel strangely at home and content in the Grove, yes, follow those feelings.“Vanessa, I am well aware of your situation and what led up to it, and now that I’ve met you in person, I have to agree with Becky. You are far harder on yourself than anyone has the right to be. You made mistakes, it’s part of growing up, and it looks like you’ve used those mistakes as a learning experience. When I was a student here, I made my share of huge mistakes, too, and I learned from them and tried to make them right, just like you are.”
At this point, I want a telepath to go into his head, find the part of him connected to his negative self-image, and slap it around for this. Yes, the mouth is faster than the brain, and Vanessa said she would do it. Aww, can't tell Shannon about any of this. Just how many fairies live in the Grove? Over a dozen of them, all Vanessa's size or close to it. Hugs and welcomes by all the fairies, aww. Get to know the other Faeries. Vanessa is going to socialize today whether she wants to or not.“No, ignore all that, you’re a piece of shit and you don’t deserve happiness,” I told myself bitterly, trying to shake off that good feeling.
Vanessa, just don't listen to the part of yourself that is self-destructive, and you should be fine. Now, though, I was confronted with the fact that I wasn’t as alone as I thought, and it brought mixed feelings: excitement, uncertainty, a strange sense of belonging, and the terror that I might somehow screw this all up by being myself.
That is where the fairy village is in The Grove. Roughly 60 Fairies in total, dang. And throwing a party for Vanessa. Vanessa's thoughts show to me she has some form of anxiety disorder, and a severe one at that. Our destination turned out to be a particularly impressive pine tree within The Grove. Hidden amongst the thick branches of the large evergreen were several dozen fairy-sized cottages that looked cozy and well-insulated.
Heart-warming, feels like she belongs here, but also scared of it; I can relate. 9 males, and 51 females, that is some skewed gender ratio. Fairies live practically forever, eep.
Makes sense to me, different senses and abilities, different ways to play a game.Only in the version we were playing, the person who was ‘it’ had to seek the others out or, in this case, tag them with their eyes closed. I guess that was a way of refining the air displacement sense of our antennae.
Tired out from games for almost an hour, yet she is dragged off by 3 females, including the fairy, close to Vanessa's age. Oh no, please don't let this be some ritual for females of a certain age among Fairies. Rhissara, real Fairy names sure are distinctive. Oh no, Vanessa is attracted to Rhissara.
Vanessa is thinking of herself as a girl, and it doesn't feel wrong; another thing she needs to tell Bellows about.“Cool your fucking jets, Vanessa,” I chided myself as I was pulled along. “You know nothing about Fairy culture, and she probably isn’t even interested in girls that way. Just because you’re interested in other girls that way doesn’t mean…”
Wait, get Vanessa ready before the sun peaks. What kind of ritual are they doing?
Why does that concern me? Going into a circle with a green-haired elder Fairy, she is told to kneel.“Don’t worry, this will be easy. You only need to kneel in the center of the circle and do what the elder says.”
Interesting custom. Yes, you are Vanessa now; your body is made where you can't be transfered out of it without dying.“Then raise your head, feel the sun on your face, and tell us your name, child. Speak it loud enough for The Grove, the sun above, and everyone gathered here to know and remember it,” she instructed.
Well, that is one way to mark her as a member of their clan. Becky's name among them is Fire-Starter; I forget if that is her codename. Fairy instincts are overwhelming Vanessa right now, eep. Fear of betraying them because of what happened with Blythe; please, open up to Bellows about these worries already, and let him help. Now, though, the underside of my wrist bore what looked like a tattoo, an unfamiliar sigil that I had noticed on all the Fairies I had met today, save for the toddler. It was even in the same spot.
Yes, learn from your lessons.I would not allow myself to betray someone I care about again. I had paid the price for that before for what I had done to Blythe, even if it was in a different currency, and I had learned that lesson hard. That was my line in the sand, and I would never cross it again.
Aww, Rhissara is concerned about Vanessa, and this was a different version of the Recognition ceremony most Fairies go through, hhm. Food, drink, and fun. Wait a minute, that isn't Rose Blossom from Gen 1, is it? Yup, it is Rose Blossom, I'm glad she is safe and found a family.
I hope Tink knows she is okay.Apparently, Rose Blossom lived among the Fairies because she felt safe with them since they were of a similar size. I guess the ‘clan’ sensed a kindred spirit in her as well and welcomed her, as they had just welcomed me. They also seemed to like that she made them toys, rides, and all kinds of useful and fun things for Fairy-sized people.
Flower nectar that is very alcoholic sounds right to me. Wakes up in late afternoon or early evening; got to watch that drinking in the future. Gah! Waking up to that, I wouldn't mind Rhissara, but I'm sure Vanessa will mind the male Fairy.
And this is why I don't drink; I like remembering what I do. Her antics while drunk sound no worse than most early teens.I might have actually kissed Rhissara at some point, maybe both of them, but it was all kind of fuzzy and mixed up with other strange and hazy memories. From what little I remembered, I was pretty sure that nothing serious happened and that, as drunken hijinks went, it was fairly innocent.
A Fairy-sized spear with a metal spearhead; I wonder if she will get to use it in BMA. Becky and Nikki find Vanessa, and wonder how all the Fairies passed out. A hangover that quickly, ouch.
Heh, just like Vegas. Aww, forced to fly back because Becky fears Vanessa might throw up on her shoulder.I was pretty sure that neither she nor Ms. Reilly believed me as the latter came into view and raised an eyebrow. “You drank their special flower nectar, didn’t you?” she asked.
“It was a party, and mistakes were made,” I grumbled in protest.
“Did you learn anything from this mistake?” our advisor pressed with a faint smile on her face.
I nodded my head grimly, and the motion made it feel like someone just jammed an icepick into my head. “Yeah, always ask what’s in the nectar, and I’m not drinking that shit again anytime soon,” I promised.
“Then what happens in The Grove stays in The Grove,” Ms. Reilly responded with a return nod.

Good advice, even those with high-level powers should carry holdouts. She had said things like, “The Imp is a lot of fun,” and “The Imp says I have to be responsible with my powers and that I should keep holdouts and some other things in my pocket dimension for emergencies.”
Boy, she has already improved her control that much in a few months, impressive. She was still having trouble with inadvertently shrinking things when she wasn’t paying attention or while she was sleeping, but she had gained much better control over the portals for her extra-dimensional storage ability. She told me that she was no longer spilling the contents whenever her attention slipped, and she was now able to open and close them on command from a distance of forty feet away, if needed.
Only being able to talk to Becky about things involving what she is doing with Nikki, Vanessa is being tortured! [Just joking]
Oof, the price os improvement is more work and lessons. Hhm, it seems her hobgoblin issue, at least based on what is said here, was partially linked to her emotional state from being forced to keep too many secrets at once, and no one to vent to about the issues they are connected to.The first thing was that school had been kind of busy, and Becky was amping up the magic lessons now that I seemed to be getting over my hobgoblin issue.
Aww, go see the Fairies again. No need to be embarrassed about what happened.
I know it is based on trauma and PTSD from being put into this body, but yikes. Lost in thoughts, use meditation instead.I was kind of crushing on Rhissara, too, and I hadn’t felt like that about someone since the early days with Blythe. Was she even interested in girl Fairies that way? What if I screwed things up? Could I even be trusted not to screw her over like I did Blythe?
Yikes, Helsing's left hand is in a cast, and she is in a foul mood because of it. Oh, good, Grande asked.
Yeow! Who or what made Helsing angry enough to punch them that hard?Helsing answered her friend’s query with gritted teeth, simply stating, “I punched something that deserved it, but probably a bit harder than I should have.”
Parents Day, time for Vanessa's adoptive family to see how crazy Whateley really is in person. Ouch, can't even talk with Bellows about what happened in the Grove if she doesn't know if he has been read into the World Tree situation enough.Outside Crystal Hall
Saturday, November 12th, 2016 – After Breakfast
When things start to calm down, they just get more complicated again. They were going to want to know how school was going, if I was doing okay, and all sorts of other stuff that I wasn’t quite sure how to answer right now. They were going to want to meet my friends, too, and I had made precious few of those… at least that I could tell them about. How was I even going to bring up the whole change of my work study, and that I might need to magically travel here on occasion during the summer, if I couldn’t mention the Fairies, The Grove, and the whole World Tree thing?
Shannon, if you need Vanessa with you, she will tell Marie and her sisters that she has to help a friend. Aww, Shannon is just waiting for his mom to show up. I wonder how she will react to the news that he is turning into a girl, unless she has already been informed. Hasn't seen his mom since he was 8. Why is she showing up for Shannon now? If she doesn't show up, or is only showing up because he is turning into a girl, or rejects him when she finds out he is turning into a girl, I will want to hunt her down and make her pay for hurting Shannon once again. Please, let things go well between Shannon and his mother.
Leanna and Danielle cry out Vanessa's name. Having sisters so much bigger than her is going to be an experience. Especially with one having enhanced senses and one training to be a magic-user, and having her well lit. Delicate and awkward hugs out of the way, here comes the question from Marie that Vanessa has been dreading. The truth, and it sounds great from where you were, Vanessa. Danielle wants to meet some of your friends. Vanessa, don't disappoint your little sister. Ouch, stuck on what to do if things go to shit between Shannon and his mom. Leanna, even Xavier's School isn't as cool as Whateley, imo.
Ah, got to meet the twins and their parents, and Becky.
Great, anti-GSD bigots for parents of two of the sweetest kids. Rushing them away to 'finish the tour', I'm with Vanessa. Furious that any parent could treat their kid that way for something that wasn't a choice.Honestly, I really didn’t like the twins’ parents, especially since Polly looked ashamed and nervous the entire time, and Peter looked like he was just done spending time with his parents, period.
Becky's adoptive parents sound cool. I wonder why they aren't here. Oh no, talk of the Elemental Dance Club, and Becky forgot to mention Vanessa would just be on instruments.
Nooo! What have you done? You gave Becky ideas! Maybe it isn't too late to run and hide, Vanessa. Vanessa, everything Becky is saying about you is the truth, no exaggeration. Marie, I wish you hadn't asked that of Vanessa; she made a promise not to tell.“You have to send us videos of all your performances, L’il Sis! You’d look so cute dancing through the air from flower to flower or something, like a sugarplum fairy!”
Danielle, ever the tomboy, snorted in playful amusement as she agreed, “Yeah, this I have to see.”
Grilled roast beef and Swiss sandwich, yum. The Crystal Hall is the best boarding school cafeteria around. Becky is joining them for the meal; the worst part of graduating is having to leave the Crystal Hall and its food behind. Huh, I forgot Emiko learned magic from Baby's Breath, aka Marie.
Emiko's older sister needs to talk about whatever issues she has with Emiko. She didn’t dress nearly as modestly as Emiko and their mother; she was showing quite a bit of cleavage, and I had to guess from her clothes and attitude that she had no interest in becoming a Buddhist nun. There was some tension there, too, and she didn’t look happy to be here visiting her sister.
Oh no, Vanessa is doomed with Becky, Leanna, and Danielle plotting about her role in the Elemental Dance Club. Dang, Leanna, Marie, and even Danielle are drawn to look when Nikki shows up. Introductions by Becky, this meeting was planned, you have grown sneakier, Nikki.
Vanessa, trust me, there are short-sighted fools who would try to harvest the sprout now rather than let it grow because they won't live to see it fully grown. She needed someone who could sense and understand the gravity of the task of tending to the World Tree, and someone that The Grove would welcome, or at least not be hostile toward.
Telling the important details for them, but leaving out naming The Grove and the World Tree. Marie is quick to pick up on that so quickly.
The Grove is definitely all of the above. Marie is going mama bear over Vanessa's involvement with Nikki, oh boy. No, not dance costumes!“There are several areas on and around the campus that are off limits to students, Mrs. Gordon. Some of those places are extremely dangerous, some are private areas, and some host either eldritch horrors or mischievous Fairies that enjoy playing pranks on students. Some are all of the above. I’m sure, as both a parent and someone with a background in magic, you can understand the importance of prioritizing the safety of our students. If you have concerns, we could go to my office to discuss them privately. There’s an opportunity for Vanessa that I’d like to talk about with you anyway.”
Dang, talked till it was almost time to leave. What did Nikki say to Marie?
Did she tell her everything? Because I would only expect that expression on Marie's face if Nikki told her everything. Yay, Vanessa will be Nikki's TA starting next term. Rats, no more time to visit with Marie and the girls. Aww, the crushing hugs and good advice from Danielle.I couldn’t be sure what, or how much, Ms. Reilly had told my adoptive mother about the stuff I’d been sworn to secrecy on, but it was obvious from the slightly stunned expression on Marie’s face that she had told her something
Onto the bus they go, and Marie hugs Vanessa.
Yup, Nikki told her everything. Well, at least it is only a little over a month until they see each other again. Hey, their plotting with Becky shows they think of you as their real sister. This was an experience I’ll not soon forget, Vanessa. Learn from your new mentor, learn everything you can, because it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Good work, though, and I’m proud of you. You’ve come a long way since I put you on that train.”
Crud, Shannon isn't in the Crystal Hall, and Vanessa is beating herself up about it, worried he is in trouble. Vanessa, you can't put everything on your shoulders like this. No, you didn't fail him like Blythe; he told you to go be with your family. In such a panic, she won't eat until she can find Shannon and eat dinner with him. At the main gate, no one is there, but the letter Shannon's mother is crumpled up on the ground. She either stood him up or said something that made him regret ever wishing to reconnect with his mother.
PK flight like a bullet to Emerson to try and find Shannon. Shannon was in the foyer and pissed, crap. Weaponeer messed with Shannon and Weaponeer is clutching at his throat. Shannon is trying to TK choke him to death! Vanessa wonders if she should stop Shannon from doing something he will regret. Shannon let Weaponeer go and walked past them like he didn't care, crap.
Glomping his face, that is one way to give a hug, Vanessa.
You are a far better friend than you realize, Vanessa."I'm… I’m giving you a fucking hug, because… you look like you could use one. I'm your fucking friend, and I fucking care about you, so I'm gonna do shit like that when you need it. Now let's get the hell outta here and get something to eat before that asshole calls security on you or something. Knowing you, you probably haven’t eaten since breakfast."

WIth Rose Blossom, it's no real secret that she and Tink will meet again in Gen1. The secret is, what happens to Tink. The only thing I told AMethyst is that Rose Blossom will not say if Tink is alive or dead.
With Emiko and her sister... Well I will say I'm not planning any big Christmas stories for Helsing, Shisa and Pastel. So Emiko is going to have my FULL attention for Christmas in gen2 Whatelely.
She's gonna have so much fun!

Monday, October 31st, 2016 – EveningGood choice, unless you are trying to blend in and not be noticed.I was dressed as the Pirate Fairy from that most recent Tinkerbell movie, while Shannon was dressed in the Alice in Wonderland costume we borrowed from the drama nerds.
It wasn’t the usual Alice costume, though. Shannon was wearing the American McGee version with a black wig and a dark blue and white knee-length apron dress with blood splatters all over it.Okay, which girl chose to wear that costume?
What about you, Alice?"Okay, I now hope her biological parents have some true justice served to them.I still had nightmares sometimes of the horrible things he had said and done to me when he had too much to drink.
People acting weirder than usual for Whateley, what did they spike the punch with?So either magical or a devisor concoction to spike the punch.
Only stealing the snacks off one table, and just the prepackaged stuff, good idea, don't get too greedy.Gah!
Yes, get them focused on you, Vanessa, but don't let them hurt you, or it will only make Shannon angrier and things worse.Oh, bully thinks he can dish it out, but once someone else throws stuff back he doesn't like, Weaponeer thinks he can tell them what they can say.“Why don’t you and your asshole friend go fuck yourselves. Or each other, I don’t give a shit what you do in the privacy of your bedroom, unlike some people who like to try to start shit.”
“What?! You can’t just…” he hissed like an overboiling teapot about to reach maximum entropy.I'm with Vanessa, zero tolerance policies have made it where bullies can say whatever they want, but the second a victim fights back, they get punished.“Can’t what, Asshole? Insinuate you’re gay and try to start a fight? Is that solely your shtick? I’m gonna tell you this just once. You don’t want this to fucking escalate, because I give zero fucks about school rules or holding back against bullies like you, and if you mess with my friend again, you’ll be picking your teeth up off the floor.”
Never reveal your capabilities unless you absolutely have to, and make them think you are crazy or won't back down. Hah, Weaponeer thinks he could put Vanessa into Doyle, what a joke. Vanessa, don't mess with Shannon like this.Doodled in a Sharpie.
Oh, into The Grove for the meeting.Wait, does Nikki keep her office near the World Tree sapling?? Becky, The Grove hates fires and those who start them. The fact that you can still enter it unharmed shows how much it cares about Nikki's opinion.“I did, because these woods can be dangerous, and you didn’t have permission to enter then, but now you do, and you’re with me. We’re among a very small group of people who have permission to enter The Grove. Or you will be if Ms. Reilly okays it, and The Grove doesn’t hate you or something. Usually, though, The Grove keeps people it doesn’t want there from entering in the first place.”
Genius Loci, The Grove is all around you and has a strong presence.Trust me, even the Greek Gods are children compared to how old The Grove is.
Fairies live practically forever, eep.Makes sense to me, different senses and abilities, different ways to play a game.Only in the version we were playing, the person who was ‘it’ had to seek the others out or, in this case, tag them with their eyes closed.
Oh no, Vanessa is attracted to Rhissara.Vanessa is thinking of herself as a girl, and it doesn't feel wrong; another thing she needs to tell Bellows about.“Cool your fucking jets, Vanessa,” I chided myself as I was pulled along.
Yup, it is Rose Blossom, I'm glad she is safe and found a family.I hope Tink knows she is okay.Apparently, Rose Blossom lived among the Fairies because she felt safe with them since they were of a similar size.
A hangover that quickly, ouch.Heh, just like Vegas.
Arriving at the changing room while riding on Poly's shoulder, the girls catch up.Laird Hall
Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 – 7:55 a.m.Good advice, even those with high-level powers should carry holdouts.
[Just joking]Oof, the price os improvement is more work and lessons.
No need to be embarrassed about what happened.I know it is based on trauma and PTSD from being put into this body, but yikes.
Oh, good, Grande asked.Yeow!
Saturday, November 12th, 2016 – After BreakfastWhen things start to calm down, they just get more complicated again.
Ah, got to meet the twins and their parents, and Becky.Great, anti-GSD bigots for parents of two of the sweetest kids.
Oh no, talk of the Elemental Dance Club, and Becky forgot to mention Vanessa would just be on instruments.Nooo!
Huh, I forgot Emiko learned magic from Baby's Breath, aka Marie.Emiko's older sister needs to talk about whatever issues she has with Emiko.
Introductions by Becky, this meeting was planned, you have grown sneakier, Nikki.Vanessa, trust me, there are short-sighted fools who would try to harvest the sprout now rather than let it grow because they won't live to see it fully grown.
What did Nikki say to Marie?Did she tell her everything? Because I would only expect that expression on Marie's face if Nikki told her everything. Yay, Vanessa will be Nikki's TA starting next term. Rats, no more time to visit with Marie and the girls. Aww, the crushing hugs and good advice from Danielle.I couldn’t be sure what, or how much, Ms. Reilly had told my adoptive mother about the stuff I’d been sworn to secrecy on, but it was obvious from the slightly stunned expression on Marie’s face that she had told her something
Onto the bus they go, and Marie hugs Vanessa.Yup, Nikki told her everything.
Thanks, as always, for your comments Dreamer, we all look forward to them whenever we post a story.
Yeah, it sucks that Vanessa has had her childhood ripped away so thoroughly, her and Shannon both. You can't blame her for wishing she could get some of it back, so it's a shame she wasn't feeling it, but I feel that it makes her more real as a somewhat tragic character.Aww, all dressed up and at a party with Shannon, and Vanessa feels nothing but emptiness. Halloween is just meh now; taking that away from someone in their early teens is a crime. Shannon is only there for Vanessa's sake. Vanessa just wanted to give them both back a slice of their childhood. Sticking to a small group at parties, ah, there is something I remember.
It would be nice, wouldn't it? Not only are they bigots, but they were truly horrible parents too and have likely scarred Vanessa for life, even without what Blythe did. Well, people like them sadly tend to get away with things for far too long, especially when they have money to back them up. Someday, though, they will likely piss off the wrong person.I hope some justice for the bigotry of his parents playing a part in Vanessa's fate happens.
Yup, that feedback from all the euphoric people was affecting Shannon pretty badly. And Vanessa really is trying to embrace Halloween, even if she's not really feeling it. She wanted them to have some fun, so she's determined to make it happen one way or another.Ah, good, empath feedback can be scary to see in action. Ah, just taking the candy, now that is what Halloween is supposed to be about.
Vanessa does have a somewhat interesting, if self-deprecating sense of humor, but I think this is the first time I've gotten to show her love of mischief as well. It's all in good fun, and she really doesn't want to hurt anyone or ruin the party for them, so she's being careful about it. She really enjoyed hamming it up, and the candy is a sweet bonus. The sooner Shannon is away from the party goers that have been messed up by the spiked punch, the better. Breasts jokes about the chocolate incident, Vanessa, you have a twisted sense of humor. Hehe, okay, the scheme sounds fun now, act like a pirate since it's her costume, and ham it up as they loot the candy and leave.
You totally just gave Domo ideas with that commentGah! Don't give Domo ideas for what to do with Tink! Oh god, the B-movie level lines and cheese, make it stop before I hurt my stomach laughing.
And yeah I really wanted to have some fun with the Halloween party, while keeping Vanessa in character, so I had a lot of fun writing that scene. I'm glad you got some laughs out of it
Doodled in a Sharpie. *facepalms* You definitely have some of the spirit of Tink in you, Vanessa.
Yup, she was in a mischievous mood on Halloween. She was hoping to save the prank for later, but it helped her to distract Shannon, and she's trying to look out for him. She hates the idea of failing a friend again, which is why she came to Shannon's defense to keep hm from doing something he might regret later as well.
Yup, she was totally talking about Absinthe. Also yes on the Fae creatures, ad least any who are Sidhe adjacent are likely to have this kind of reaction with Nikki, especially when meeting her for the first time, and Vanessa's Fairy instincts are going crazy while she's in The Grove.
Yup, there are so many reasons that Nikki is a good mentor for Vanessa to have. Becky as well, and she's a good friend to give Vanessa the push she needed.Yeah, if anyone knows about mistakes and making things right, it is Nikki. A TA on paper and learning a teleportation spell to commute and avoid the MCO sounds great. All that, and you still are hesitating. You need a big push here, Vanessa. Shoot, we all need a friend to say what Becky is saying to Vanessa when a hard decision comes up. Feel strangely at home and content in the Grove, yes, follow those feelings..
That is a lot of Fairies, and she's one of them, so they're essentially welcoming her home. Vanessa does have some serious anxiety issues that she tries not to show, partly because of her parents and partly PTSD from what Blythe put her through. Honestly, she has a lot of healing to do.That is where the fairy village is in The Grove. Roughly 60 Fairies in total, dang. And throwing a party for Vanessa. Vanessa's thoughts show to me she has some form of anxiety disorder, and a severe one at that..
Yeah, this is really where she starts thinking of herself as Venessa, it's a big realization for her, and she really needs to talk to someone about this kind of stuff, but she resents Bellows and isn't willing to look like she's given in, it's something we'll see more of soon.Vanessa is thinking of herself as a girl, and it doesn't feel wrong; another thing she needs to tell Bellows about.
I wanted to give Vanessa a sort of physical reminder that she belongs somewhere, and when I was trying to come up with a welcoming/coming of age ceremony, it just seemed to fit. Becky's codename is FairyFire, but Vanessa finds it hilarious that the Fairies call her that. She's just too resentful of Bellows to talk to him, not to mention stubborn, but soon we may see her find someone she is comfortable talking with.Well, that is one way to mark her as a member of their clan. Becky's name among them is Fire-Starter; I forget if that is her codename. Fairy instincts are overwhelming Vanessa right now, eep. Fear of betraying them because of what happened with Blythe; please, open up to Bellows about these worries already, and let him help..
Yeah, there's going to be a lot for her to think about after waking up like that. At least Nikki is being cool about things and saying that what happens in The Grove stays there. Not all mentors would be so understanding.Flower nectar that is very alcoholic sounds right to me. Wakes up in late afternoon or early evening; got to watch that drinking in the future. Gah! Waking up to that, I wouldn't mind Rhissara, but I'm sure Vanessa will mind the male Fairy..
Poor Vanessa, now she's going to be dragged into the spotlight. Sisters, am I right? Yeah, Nikki totally planned this as a way of meeting and talking about Vanessa's adoptive mother about some things, and not just changing her work study.Oh no, Vanessa is doomed with Becky, Leanna, and Danielle plotting about her role in the Elemental Dance Club. Dang, Leanna, Marie, and even Danielle are drawn to look when Nikki shows up. Introductions by Becky, this meeting was planned, you have grown sneakier, Nikki.
Shannon and Vanessa both have a heap of issues to deal with, and Vanessa worries a lot about betraying or failing the few friends she's allowed herself to make. More so with Shannon because they've both had pretty shitty lives until now and he needs a friend who will stick by him, and maybe even act as his conscience once in a while. She wants to do for him what nobody ever did for her as Aiden and be the friend he needs.Crud, Shannon isn't in the Crystal Hall, and Vanessa is beating herself up about it, worried he is in trouble.
Yes. Yes she is, not that she'll let herself see that, At least, not yet,You are a far better friend than you realize, Vanessa.

Just two quick comments here Dreamer.
