"Based on observations of other stars, astronomers predict it will reach the end of its life in about another 10 billion years. There are other things that will happen along the way, of course. In about 5 billion years, the Sun is due to turn into a red giant."

So Nikki would have been about 5 Billion Years old by then. The trees would have helped her live longer, and she would have in turn done the same for them, in a symbiotic relationship. It's entirely possible that Billie, and possibly Sara were still alive at the time of her passing, Jade too may have been - due to her bond with the Starstalker. We may never know.
