In New Jersey and speeding, yet that darn black sedan is still tailing them. Dang, Val pulls a dangerous, but impressive stunt and has a captive now. The driver pulls up and has a gun on Val, they talk about how Val killed the boss, oh, that creep. Nice threat and warning by Eve, poor Val still getting burned in her bestial form.

New clothes for Val from a strip mall, a pink hoodie and white sweatpants, but no bra, ouch! Finally, at the Albany MCO facility, Eve reminds the receptionist that names aren't required to be provided for the MID process. Embarrassment for Val now, a stupid skin-tight bodysuit for testing. Not liking the perv doing the testing, as you have been told she is a minor!

Echolocation, cool. Smart move, let Eve do the cuts for the regeneration tests. Equal regenerative speed in both forms, at least a 3 or 4 is my guess.

Val is harder hit by her unusual appearance and being burned easily by sunlight, at least she isn't taking being a girl as hard, or so it seems. Darn, from the doctor's notes it sounds like her new BIT is based on pop culture characters, thus her appearance and sunlight vulnerability. It could be worse, she could have watched the Twilight movie.

Laughed herself to sleep over the fact she might have subconsciously screwed herself over, oof. Ms. Hughes, hhm. Dang, she doesn't like Guido almost as much as Eve, and caller I.D. once again ruins stealth over the phone. Guido left a mess behind for Eve to sort through, that is an understatement. Val playing Castlevania is priceless.

Tatiana Hughes, I wonder what happened to her Martin and why they never had kids. Eve shows up as a petite Asian girl, Everywoman is such a great Shifter codename. Help with Val's paperwork getting into circulation, Tatiana knows to ask the right questions. Only a couple of days to take care of all this, Tatiana does good work fast.

Val is bored and video games not cutting it anymore. A stack of folders that high, yikes. That monster blackmailed Eve all these years for her parents' safety and they've been dead for 12 years. I hope there is a special place in Hell for him. Val weighs 125 lbs. and hug missile, that is a new one. And yes, family, you have family, Val.

Val going to see how her mom is doing...and she has moved on without Val, found a new man, and has a new baby. Val leaves without them even knowing she was nearby.

Val becoming nocturnal, I would with her severe allergy to the sunlight. Education and Eve doesn't know about Whateley Academy, darn. Eve! Never disguise yourself as a famous person like Miley Cyrus. Those gargoyles, all these years, and still no clue if they are regular ones, alive, magical, or what. The Crystal Hall, drawing eyes since it was first built. Mrs. Carson is there to greet them, this speeds things up a bit.

Even in jeans and a t-shirt she portrayed the epitome of power and authority.

A student who realizes the position Mrs. Carson holds. Only one student is available to show Val around, I bet it is Vamp, though with that alert to Sam I wonder who else it might be.

Hehe, yes, vampires are real, Eve. Though that there are some on campus is a little surprising. Crud, I should have know Setup was related to Jobe. At least the tale of how Eve encountered Val and Val came to be Val is more clear to Mrs. Carson. Val needs time to learn how to demonstrate her feelings again after living in that monstrous form for years. But yes, get her in counseling as soon as possible.

Cyberkitty!?! No wonder there was an alert and Corporal Gearing is there. Boy, Paige knows how to tell her origin in short form well. Val tells her tale and learns from Paige that vampires are real, I wonder what Petra is up to. And the rest of Val's tale is told, and yes you are both changelings. Hive, no pointing at something or someone you don't intend to shoot. Val, you are beautiful, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

No, don't place her in Melville, anywhere but there. Aww, Paige's girlfriend, I forgot she was one of Sara's pack. No taunting Paige like that, poor girl, I hope when Sara is back and recovers enough they can continue their relationship.

Val seeing so many in Hawthorne and realizing how much worse she could have it has a way of putting things in perspective. Crystal Hall and Val having to reveal her dietary needs, oof.

I always wondered about that since Sara had no problems even before she and Nikki became blood sisters. Val reminds Paige of Sara, d'oh!

“Oh, don’t worry. All the human blood served is guaranteed 100% cloned on site from the blood of volunteers. We are out of AB Negative, but we do have all other types available. Of course, if you don’t drink human blood, we do have some goat, sheep, cow, and elephant blood available.”

And another mystery of Crystal Hall is solved. Gearing is just doing his job, I wish he didn't have to though. Seeing Paige eat is an experience you won't forget. And Val needs to come to Whateley, yay.

Whitman Cottage

Whitman Cottage, is a nice place since she isn't choosing to reveal she used to be a guy. UV-blocking curtains, nice.

She was confused and afraid of her own sexuality. She had not given it a whole lot of thought up until this point, the rush of trying to get her new life in order had put such things on the back burner. But now she would have to face it.

You will have help and once the Poe changelings figure out the truth about you they will help you even if you aren't in Poe with them.

A blind girl who wears a black cloth over her eyes, why do I suspect if she takes off that cloth something will emit from her eyes? April will be an interesting roommate for Val. Mrs. Savage shows up, why would April May's bags have ended up at Melville. April May, much sympathy for her. Val gives a cover story for her background, one fitting for her being Eve's sister. Light emitting eyes when opened and can't see, Exemplar two despite her figure, dang.

Of all the people for Val to run into on the way to showers it has to be Bobbi aka Attributes, the poor girl picked on for her assets.

I think it’s because I can temporarily make powers stronger, and non-exemplars prettier. But it wears off and people get sick for like a week and I tell them that, but they still get mad at me when it happens, and it’s not my fault.

Good grief, if people don't listen to her warning and just insist on her using her power on them it is their own fault.

Oh boy, Val is at least bi-curious if not fully bi, she has a lot to work through. Getting an eyeful of Bobbi like that, Val might need a cold shower. ID allowing her to be out after dark, nice.

Bloodwolf at it again, and attracted to Val, crud. Idiot goes and leaps out of a bush surprising Val, lucky he didn't do that to a UV. Val turns into her bat-like form and BW goes to attack her, only to wake up hours later in Doyle, good to see him sent there.

Darn, the fight attracted security and Val is in their office worried she is in trouble. Sam tries to calm her down and explains to her about Bloodwolf being a bully and UV so she isn't in trouble for defending herself. An escort to Crystal Hall, glad that is all that happened. Oh great, Val is at least physically attracted to Corporal Gearing.

Oh no, not these idiots. Bimbo Buffy wanna-be tries a holy symbol and holy water to no effect, she didn't listen to Val when she tried to say she isn't a vampire. The Goobers need to be reined in more. Nightbane needs to learn how to control her temper and attitude. Silvermoon is the werewolf in the Goobers, that girl needs to find better friends. Read the riot act by Paige, good, that group is nothing but trouble.

A throwing Star of David is sickening. Late night computer game between Val and Paige, glad to see they both have friends. Debugging code as a game, huh. Watching sim training videos, one between Wondercute and the team Mindbird is on from the description, poor Val doesn't know what hit her. Crud, goes to brush her teeth and gets mistaken for a vampire...again.

April's codename is Sunshine, how appropriate. Energizer so of course, she eats a lot. Potential disaster magnet, ah, Val is already living up to the protagonist's potential. One of Bloodwolf's idiot buddies wants payback for what Val did and rips off April's blindfold only to get blinded by her light. Firecat and Stonebear, so junior security is there and it was Necro bullying April, figures he is that big an idiot.

Mindbird is told about what Necro brought up and the reason he assaulted April. Sorry, April, there is no quiet, laid-back school life here at Whateley.

April expresses her annoyance at being dragged into the trouble Val has stirred up and gets an apology.

“Are they big?” April asked sheepishly.

“Um… I wear a 36DD bra?” Val said, confused.

“I hate you” April said laughing “I forgive you. Boys can be stupid, I guess?”

And yes, there are more lesbians than just those in Poe on campus, you are going to be getting a lot of stares, Val. Boobie fairy and Val saw Tink flying around, hah.

The Goobers are the last thing April needs in her life. Val being called sexy by Paige has her confused, still hasn't grasped how much she has changed. Seeing a couple with such vast differences in appearance, it isn't always about appearance that decides who you are attracted to. Yes, learn to not be afraid of either side of yourself. I love this last part so much, many people take a lifetime to learn this lesson.

It was fun to watch Eve and Val on their trip to Whateley, the bonding they did as new siblings and Val learning she has a new family even as she learned her old one had moved on. Eve is a great big sister to introduce Val to old music and other things, plus just being there for Val when she needs her.

Seeing Mrs. Carson interact with Eve was interesting, plus I like she was concerned about Val coming to Whateley but willing to give her a chance after all she heard. All the new details about Crystal Hall and how they operate were great. And the callbacks to older characters we haven't seen in a long time. I loved Paige becoming friends with Val, showing her around campus, and bonding over their shared traumatic histories. And that the relationship continues, I want to see more of them interacting in the future.

Bloodwolf being put in Doyle for a couple hours, I've waited to see someone do that to him for a long time. Val has made a lot of enemies fast without meaning to, though it is mostly idiots who need to be reminded to leave other students alone. I see more annoyance and possibly attacks by the Goobers if they try to retaliate for the humiliation in the future.

April is an interesting character and choice for Val's roommate. Always great to see how powers interact with physiology, forced blindness due to such power is interesting to see in action. I wonder who Val is going to end up dating in the future once she sorts out her feelings more. I can't wait to see more of Val and April in the future.
